The Canadian PGA Releases 2009 National Tournament Dates

ACTON, ON (April 1, 2009) - The Canadian PGA released its 2009 tournament schedule today featuring four National Championships.

Highlights include the Canadian PGA Women’s Championship presented by NIKE Golf to be held at Dundas Valley Golf Club in Dundas, ON. The event will once again bring together the top Canadian PGA female professionals and will be open to all foreign female golf professionals as well, adding an international flair. Dundas Valley will host the Canadian PGA Women’s Championship August 10th to 12th. The event will once again kick off with the Simmlands Insurance Pro-Am on August 10th. Hannah Jun of San Diego, CA won the 2008 event.

The Titleist & FootJoy Club Professional Championship (CPC) returns to Florida for the sixth time in its history and will take place November 23rd to 25th. The Wanamaker Course at the PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, FLA will once again host an elite field of Canadian PGA Club Professionals. Last year’s field was considered among the best ever to participate in the CPC and this year will again feature qualifying formats – players otherwise not exempt must qualify via their respective Zone Championship. A highlight of the tournament is the 2008 Canadian PGA National Awards presentation as well as a Resort Owners Group (ROG) players’ barbeque. With his victory in 2008, Kyle German of Vancouver, BC will play in the 2009 RBC Canadian Open at Glen Abbey in Oakville, ON.

The 2009 Titleist & FootJoy Canadian PGA Assistants’ Championship will return to eastern Canada for the third year in a row where Golf de La Faune in Quebec City, QC will host this prestigious event for the first time from September 21st to 23rd. Always one of the strongest fields of all the Canadian PGA National Championships, the 2009 edition may be the strongest yet. Remi Bouchard of Terrebonne, QC clinched the title last year after an exciting playoff against John McCann of Markham, ON at Beloeil Club de Golf in Beloeil, QC.

In addition, the 2009 Canadian PGA Seniors’ Championship will return to the Nation’s Capital, as the beautiful Brookstreet Resort and Marshes Golf Club in Ottawa hosts the event from July 8th to 11th. Yvan Beauchemin of Louiseville, QC will look to defend his title.

"The Canadian PGA Board of Directors and the Tournament Committee are proud to announce the 2009 tournament schedule and invite all eligible Canadian PGA Members to do their best to participate,” stated Kevin Corriveau, Canadian PGA Tournament Committee Chairman. “We believe the venues chosen for 2009 will once again provide the perfect stage for our Members to showcase their talents and continue to promote the game and the Canadian PGA Professional."
