Job Summary

The Head Office Store Manager & Golf Professional will be responsible for the overall day to day operation, performance and growth of the Head Office location, with a particular focus on memberships, revenue generation, tournaments, leagues, customer engagement and golf programming and retention.

Beyond the day to day operation of the store, this role will act as a proof of concept leader for Back Nine Canada. You will work closely with the Head Office team to launch, measure and refine new initiatives, determine what works, and help develop the playbooks, processes and best practices that can be rolled out to our franchise network.

This is an ideal role for someone who loves golf, understands retail and customer experience, is comfortable selling and building relationships, and gets excited about testing new ideas and turning successful concepts into scalable programs. The ideal candidate is more than a traditional Store Manager or Golf Professional. You are a sales leader, community builder, golf enthusiast and entrepreneur who enjoys being close to the customer and making things happen.

You are comfortable asking: "What if we tried this?"

Then you are equally comfortable measuring the results, learning from them and turning the successful ideas into a repeatable program for the entire Back Nine Canada network.

  • Take ownership of the financial and sales performance of the Head Office location.
  • Drive retail sales through exceptional customer service and product knowledge.
  • Identify opportunities to increase average transaction value and customer frequency.
  • Develop and execute local revenue initiatives and promotions.
  • Monitor key performance indicators and take action to improve results.

  • Develop, sell and manage golf tournaments and corporate golf events.
  • Build and grow recurring leagues and golf programming.
  • Create new events and experiences that drive traffic, membership and revenue.
  • Develop relationships with corporate clients, sponsors, golf organizations and community partners.
  • Manage event execution from initial sale through to completion.
  • Identify opportunities to turn successful events and leagues into repeatable programs for the franchise network.

4. Golf Professional Responsibilities

  • Act as a knowledgeable and highly visible golf professional within the Back Nine Canada environment.
  • Provide customers and members with knowledgeable advice on golf products, equipment and services.
  • Support golf related programming, clinics, events and experiences as appropriate.
  • Build credibility within the local golf community.
  • Stay current on golf industry trends, products and customer preferences.
  • Use your golf expertise to help develop new customer experiences and revenue opportunities.

5. Proof of Concept & Innovation

  • A major component of this position is testing new ideas at the Head Office location before they are introduced across the franchise network.

Responsibilities include:

  • Act as the primary operator and champion for new Head Office initiatives.
  • Test new products, services, membership offerings, events, leagues, technology and revenue programs.
  • Establish measurable objectives and KPIs for new initiatives.
  • Track results, customer feedback and financial performance.
  • Identify what works, what doesn't and what needs to be changed.
  • Work with Head Office leadership to refine successful concepts.
  • Develop operational processes, training materials and best practices that can be replicated by franchisees.
  • Help create the playbook for rolling successful initiatives out across the Back Nine Canada network.
  • Become a key internal resource/coach for franchisees implementing new programs.

6. Team Leadership & Store Operations

  • Lead, coach and motivate the Back Nine Canada Franchise Owners.
  • Establish a culture centered around sales, service, accountability and fun.

  • Ensure appropriate inventory, merchandising and operational standards are maintained.
  • Support and training of team members.
  • Lead by example on the sales floor and in customer interactions.

7. Customer Experience & Community Building

  • Create a welcoming, energetic and highly engaging golf environment.
  • Build relationships with customers beyond the transaction.
  • Develop a strong local golf community around the Head Office location.
  • Gather customer feedback and identify opportunities to improve the overall experience.
  • Represent Back Nine Canada at local golf, business and community events.
