Job Summary
The Retail Manager is responsible for overseeing all retail operations within the Golf Shop, delivering a seamless and elevated shopping experience for members and guests. This role manages purchasing, inventory, receiving, pricing, merchandising, staffing, and sales strategy with a strong focus on revenue growth and member satisfaction.
Responsibilities

Retail Operations & Merchandising:

  • Develop and execute merchandising strategies aligned with member preferences and industry trends
  • Oversee product selection, purchasing, and pricing to ensure a compelling and balanced merchandise mix
  • Manage and monitor inventory including receiving of product, stock levels to maintain product availability, and fiscal responsibility
  • Coordinate and conduct regular inventory counts
  • Create visually engaging displays that enhance the shopping experience and promote sales
  • Analyze sales data to identify best sellers and adjust buying strategies accordingly

Member Engagement & Service:

  • Provide personalized shopping assistance and deliver exceptional member service
  • Actively solicit and respond to member feedback to improve product offerings
  • Plan and execute retail events, promotions, and seasonal sales to drive engagement and revenue

Team Leadership & Development:

  • Recruit, train, and supervise Golf Shop retail staff
  • Foster a culture of professionalism, accountability, and service excellence
  • Develop and implement product knowledge and service training programs
  • Collaborate with Associate Professionals to optimize staffing levels and support merchandising initiatives

Financial Management & Reporting:

  • Prepare and manage the Golf Shop retail budget in alignment with club objectives
  • Track and report on key performance indicators including sales, margins, and inventory turnover
  • Work closely with the Director of Golf to establish revenue targets and develop strategies to achieve them
Qualifications
  • Proven retail management experience, preferably in golf, private club, or luxury retail environments
  • Strong understanding of merchandising principles and retail operations
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a member-first mindset
  • Proficiency with POS systems and inventory management software
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales data and trends
  • Creative mindset with a keen eye for visual merchandising and detail
  • Golf knowledge and experience considered a strong asset
Compensation
Annual Salary of 50-60K+ with the opportunity to earn more based on performance, to be discussed.
