
Turfcare Superintendent: Whitetail Crossing Golf Club
The Whitetail Crossing Golf Club is looking for a Superintendent to join our team. The course is a Sid Puddicombe-designed, 18-Hole Championship layout located East of Edmonton in Mundare, Alberta. The facility is owned and operated by the Country Club Tour group which also offers Montomery Glen, Redtail Landing, River Ridge, Sandpiper and Ravencrest as part of their portfolio in the Edmonton area.
The club hosts approximately 25,000 rounds a year and we are committed to finding the right candidate to work with management and ownership to continue the tradition of great turf conditions and playability at Whitetail Crossing.

- Responsibilities
-
• Management of all playing areas on the property
• Inspect all components of the golf course and provides solutions and recommendations for any problems
• Responsible for hiring, training, supervising and disciplining all golf course maintenance staff
• Financial management of the Turf Care Department budget
• Planning and scheduling work programs and projects
• Management of Turf Care personnel. Ability to secure, train, schedule, supervise and communicate effectively with employees.
• Management of all golf course equipment and materials which includes purchasing, maintenance, storing and inventory.
• Accurate record keeping on inventory, weather data, maintenance procedures, cost accounting and material applications.
• Instruct equipment operators in the safe operation and care of all equipment
• Supervises daily course set-up which includes hole locations, tee marker placements, mowing operations, bunker maintenance, course fertilization, pesticide applications and irrigation operations.
• Initiates plans for cultural practices, such as aeration, verti-cutting and top-dressing
• Takes control for planning and preparing short & long term maintenance and construction schedules
• Supervises and participates with construction projects.
- Qualifications
-
• A diploma or degree in Turf Grass Management
• Five (5) years experience in Golf Course Maintenance
• Valid Alberta Applicator’s Pesticide License
• Experience in all aspects of fertilizer & pesticide application
• Knowledge of equipment, materials, and supplies used in golf course grounds maintenance; water practices and irrigation systems
• Knowledge of landscaping to improve golf course design and to recognize the need f or proper pruning, planting, spraying and related care
• Must have supervisory, purchasing, and financial management experience
• Knowledgeable in all aspects of computerized irrigation operation, repair and maintenance
• Experience with interviewing, hiring and scheduling of staff
• Must be an excellent team leader and possess excellent communication skills A working knowledge of computers is essential
