The PGA of Canada has developed one of the most successful and respected training programs available to golf professionals worldwide.

To sustain the consistent, decade-over-decade momentum and growth of the teaching and coaching programs, the PGA of Canada seeks to expand its Learning Facilitators (LF) team responsible for delivering in-person training.

Reporting to the Senior Coordinator, Director of Education, and the Technical Director, Learning Facilitators play an integral role in the growth and development of golf coaches/instructors. Successful candidates will complete the LF training and certification pathway established by the Coaching Association of Canada and the PGA of Canada.

Job Summary

The role of the LF:

The LF will lead a learning environment through effective communication, implementation of learning activities and presentation skills. Learning Facilitators take on a unique role focusing on the content, the delivery process and teaching from a learner-centred perspective.

Commitment: The role and responsibilities of the LF are vital to the development of PGA of Canada members, Golf Canada's player pathway and the golfing community. Successful candidates will be dedicated to developing and delivering their related contexts and committed to prioritizing their LF role.

LFs must commit to 4-6 workshops (10-12 days per year) during February – May and September – October, as well as two days of in-person, ongoing professional development each year.

Responsibilities
  •  Provide an engaging, interactive and knowledgeable workshop experience for PGA of Canada members
  •  Be diligent in complying with the PGA of Canada's safe sport policies and procedures
  •  Create a positive and effective learning environment
  •  Adhere to the PGA of Canada's administrative policies and procedures
  •  Effectively execute pre-established PGA of Canada workshop content to workshop attendees.
  •  Report to the Senior Coordinator of Education and the Technical Director
  •  Complete the required LF training and certification pathway
  •  Participate in annual, in-person LF training
Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Class "A" member of the PGA of Canada in good standing 
  • A minimum of five years of teaching and coaching experience 
  • Participation in PGA of Canada NCCP training 
  • Experience in coaching and coach development in another sport(s) is an asset
  • For Golfers with a Disability Only: must have experience coaching golfers with physical disabilities.

Skills:

  •  Strong facilitation and presentation skills
  •  An understanding of adult learning environments
  •  Bilingualism is an asset

Personal Characteristics:

  •  Commitment to the NCCP program and desire to support PGA of Canada's members
  •  Be a positive ambassador for the PGA of Canada and its programs
  •  High ethical standards and leadership skills
  •  A commitment of time and energy to the evaluation process and the ability to work within a clearly defined framework
  •  Exceptional attention to detail and time-management skills
  •  The ability to be critically reflective and willing to develop
Compensation
Compensation of $300-500 per facilitation day with travel expenses paid for by the PGA of Canada.

Start Date:

  • Successful candidates will initiate the training pathway upon hire
  • Completion of the LF training pathway is expected no later than December 31st, 2023.
