Golf Shop Retail Manager: Carleton Golf & Yacht Club

The Carleton Golf & Yacht Club is seeking a Golf Shop Retail Manager

Located along the banks of the Rideau River just minutes from downtown Ottawa, Carleton was one of the first golf course residential communities established in North America. Established in 1963, CGYC is a member-owned private facility known for its outstanding course conditions, friendly atmosphere, and an unwavering commitment to offering an unforgettable member experience. In recent years, Carleton has hosted the PGA of Ottawa Zone Championship, PGA Canadian Seniors’ Championship, and numerous Ottawa Valley Golf Association events.

Carleton Golf & Yacht Club is a 12-month golf facility and includes an Indoor Golf Academy powered by TrackMan as well as a Fitness area. With a very active membership, Carleton has many golf and social events taking place throughout the year.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be a vital member of the Professional Team. They will report directly to the Director of Golf and will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Maintains a clean, orderly, welcoming appearance in the Golf Shop, Starters Pavilion, Practice Facility and surrounding
  • Outside Operations areas:
    • Ensures that the Golf Shop merchandise is well displayed, organized and available for member selection
    • Place and record special orders and contact members on product arrival
    • Executes and ensures proper daily Golf Shop opening and closing procedures
    • Accurately records and tracks club demo and fitting products
    • Responds to and answers Golf Shop email and telephone inquiries on a daily basis Golf Operation
    • Works with the Outside Operations staff to ensure detailed daily opening/closing of all practice facility areas
    • Help supervise the Outside Operations team and provide support and direction for daily member club staging, cart setup, and necessary opening and closing procedures
    • Monitors the first tee schedule to ensure members and guests are beginning their rounds on time as per the tee sheet
    • Enforces the club’s dress code policy
    • Communicates with the Turf Department when required and notifies members of course conditions, such as frost delays and cart restrictions etc.
  • Member Services:
    • Assists members with tee time booking and website access
    • Supports the operation member leagues and execution of all golf tournament events
Qualifications
  • Post-secondary degree or college diploma with a golf management discipline (or working towards) an asset.
  • Excellent member service, sales, and organizational skills.
  • Positive, professional attitude and a team player with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proactive thinker who can prioritize their time in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of JONAS and GG Golf is an asset but not required.
  • Previous experience at a private golf club is considered an asset.
Compensation

$900 to $1200 weekly based on experience.
