Food, Beverage & Events Manager: Highwood Golf

Highwood Golf was established in August of 1958 and celebrated its 65th Anniversary last year. Located in the town of High River, Alberta, 30 minutes south of Calgary, this semi-private course is a place for friends, colleagues, and families, to enjoy playing golf and socializing in a casual, welcoming atmosphere in a beautiful setting along the Highwood River. The Highwood team is dedicated to creating memorable experiences for our Members and Guests, whether they are on the greens, dining in our Foxes Den Restaurant or attending one of our many Events.

We are currently seeking a dynamic, highly experienced, and dedicated Food, Beverage & Events Manager, to join our Management Team and elevate Highwood Golf’s hospitality services to new heights. An expectation of the position is to ensure year-round exceptional service, a quality and diverse menu, and to become known as the restaurant and banquet facility of choice in High River and surrounding area.

Job Summary
The Food, Beverage & Events Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of food and beverage operations including the promotion, planning, and execution of Events at Highwood Golf. The Food, Beverage & Events team consists of the Manager, Head Chef, Supervisor of Front of the House (FOH) Staff and the Events Coordinator.
Responsibilities
  • As part of the Highwood Golf Management Team, keep the General Manager and the other Department Managers current on all activities and the results of operations in the Food, Beverage & Events Department. Highwood Golf is a team operation, and each department must work in conjunction with the other departments to ensure seamless operations and customer satisfaction.
  • Develop, manage, and monitor the food and beverage budget providing monthly forecast and variance reports.
  • Provide high quality, reasonably priced food, and service in an ever-increasing cost environment.
  • Preparation of revenue, cost breakdowns and controls, ordering, inventory, supplier relations and presentation of cost-effective cases for capital planning.
  • Recruitment, training, mentoring, and evaluating of all Food, Beverage & Event staff both seasonal and permanent year-round and day to day management of labor to make necessary changes based on weather forecasts and business levels.
  • Preparation of department goals and staff reviews.
  • Quality control of service, food preparation and health standards, and atmosphere both front of house and back of house (kitchen) ensuring excellent guest relations.
  • Develop creative strategies to increase revenue and alternative options for usage of the restaurant and banquet facility during the off-season by Members and the Community.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of a high school diploma plus post-secondary education.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience supervising food and beverage operations, preferably in a large Golf Course setting.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience with event coordination and/or catering.
  • Alberta Food Safety Certificate.
  • Proserv Certified.
  • Knowledge of liquor and food ordering, kitchen operations, health & safety regulations and food handling practices.
  • Knowledge of Community Event venue requirements and ability to support the Events Coordinator in translating this into new Event business.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Ability to deal effectively and respectfully with staff, members, guests, the Board, and the community.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Passion for pleasing the customer, with a desire to help grow the business.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
Compensation
Monthly Salary: $4,583 - $5,416
