CSGA OVERVIEW

The Canadian Seniors' Golf Association (CSGA) is an Association for gentlemen golfers across Canada, who are members in good standing of a golf club which is a member of Golf Canada.  
●    to encourage friendly competition among senior players, age 55 and over,
●    to support and promote golf and its traditions in Canada, through our donations and scholarships and the efforts of our members at their clubs and beyond,
●    to hold an annual tournament and selected satellite tournaments and organize member only and couples’ tours in Canada and abroad, in cooperation with foreign senior golfers' associations, and,
●    To field teams for the International Triangular and Devonshire Cup Matches, on a rotational basis, with our competitors.

Job Summary
The Executive Director is a part time contract position. Currently the Executive director is supported by one part time assistant. The Executive Director reports to the President of the Association.
Responsibilities

The role of the Executive Director is to manage all business and administrative aspects of the Association. The following are the key areas of responsibility.

Financial :

  • Produce Annual Budget, Tournament Budgets, negotiate relevant contracts; present to the President/ Executive Committee for approval. Maintain ongoing financial records including banking, receipts/expenditures; ensure bills are paid in a timely manner. Work with the association’s accountant to produce financial statements and reports on a timely basis.

Membership:

  • Coordinate membership applications and update New Member wait list and providing recommendations to the Board for their approval. Maintain existing membership database, process new member applications, maintain waitlist; timely collection of dues, fees and any other accounts owing in a timely manner. Ensure Membership directory is current and accurate on the CSGA website. Proactively manage communications with members.

Volunteers:

  • The CSGA is fortunate to have many volunteers willing to give of their time and expertise. The Executive Director provides support to the members serving on the Participation and Charity committees. Volunteers also play a significant role in all our tournaments. The Executive Director will work with and coordinate with those members to ensure the delivery of excellent events.

Tournaments:

  • Responsible for planning and securing future locations and finalizing all costs, events and other criteria with the Clubs holding the Annual Tournament. Responsible for all other Tournaments including Mixed Events, Satellites and Regional tournaments in coordination with local members or Governors. Travels to preview and perform onsite inspections for major Tournaments, particularly all Annual, Mixed, and Satellite, with assistance from local Governors.

Secretary:

  • Appointed as the Association Secretary. Assists in arranging meetings and preparing agendas for all Board and annual meetings. Produces minutes promptly following the AGM, Board and Committee meetings.

International Team:

  • Acts as host at Devonshire and Triangular Matches that are scheduled for play in Canada. Produce budgets for all events hosted by the CSGA. Coordinates key aspects of International Matches, in conjunction with Captain. Accompanies International Team to all matches and coordinates and facilitates timing on itineraries.

Administration:

  • Oversees day to day and general administration including the association website, with the Administration Manager.

Reciprocal Visits:

  • Responsible for arranging, budgeting, and overseeing all details of trips to and from Canada with similar national Associations; U.K., Australia, Belgium, and any others, in conjunction with respective Governors.

Golf Canada, Golf Canada Foundation:

  • Meets with and liaises with key personnel at Golf Canada, particularly on CSGA Scholarship requirements.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

The Association offers events across the country for its members. Currently the schedule includes:

  • An annual tournament held over three days, being held this year in September.
  • Five one or two day regional/satellite events - Western Canada, GTA (possibly two events in 2024), Eastern Ontario/Quebec and Atlantic Canada.
  • Four virtual events. These events allow members across the country to play on a course of their choosing and compete against players within their region using Golf Genius to create a stableford competition.
  • Each year, the Association selects a team to compete against The US Seniors Association (Devonshire Cup), and every second year the event includes the British Seniors Association (Triangular Matches).

The Association uses Golf Genius to manage all its events, including player registration, entry fee payment and scoring. It is expected that the successful candidate will know or learn how to use Golf Genius efficiently and effectively.

Qualifications
The CSGA is looking for an Executive Director who is an excellent communicator and administrator. The successful candidate will be effective in working with the Board and volunteers in the Association and will be confident in managing all operations. It is expected that the candidate will possess the skills necessary to organize all aspects of golf tournaments. In addition, the candidate will be comfortable using technology and will be financially literate – able to develop budgets and manage expenses to budget.
