DIRECTOR OF COMPETITIONS & RULES: Golf Manitoba

Golf Manitoba is the Provincial Sports Organization and governing body for golf in Manitoba and Northwest Ontario representing 9,700 golfers and 80+ member clubs. A proud partner of Sport Manitoba and Golf Canada, Golf Manitoba’s mission is to develop, promote, govern and service the game of golf for the benefit of all participants. By investing in the growth of the sport and introducing more participants of all ages to the game, our vision is to be a leader in delivering quality, innovative and accessible golf programs, and services.

Each year, Golf Manitoba conducts approximately 15 championships and events for golfers of all ages and abilities. In 2022, over 850 participants played 1,700 competitive rounds at 10 member clubs from May through to September. All Golf Manitoba functions, including the championships portfolio, are supported by volunteers.

Job Summary
Golf Manitoba is looking for a motivated, mission driven individual with excellent communication, customer service, organizational and event planning skills to lead the execution of all amateur championships and Rules of Golf functions of the association.
Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of Golf Manitoba championships/competition administration from site selection, pre-event site visits, golf course set-up, volunteer communications and scheduling, partnership fulfillment, branding and equipment set-up, competition/inside the ropes administration, rules officiating, pace of play monitoring, trophy presentation ceremony, post event wrap-up, etc.

• Utilize Golf Genius’ Tournament Management Software to handle registration and competition administration for various Golf Manitoba programming activities

• Annually attend Golf Canada Rules of Golf Workshop with goal to achieve and maintain Level 3 status

• Assist with education, training and support of Rules and Competitions volunteers

• Educate Golf Manitoba members on the Rules of Golf through conducting rules seminars in various formats

• For PGA of Canada members, assist in hiring and training Player Development Interns for the delivery of grassroots golf programs

• Provide support and/or leadership through auxiliary events such Golf Manitoba Awards banquet, Hall of Fame Induction and other non-championship events

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and/or a PGA of Canada member

• Prior experience and knowledge of golf tournament administration is preferred

• Strong knowledge and demonstrated proficiency of Rules of Golf o Expectation to eventually achieve Level 3 status for the Rules of Golf as administered by Golf Canada

• Knowledge and utilization of Golf Genius or similar golf tournament management software is preferred • Must possess excellent customer service skills and be able to communicate both orally and in written formats in interactions with players, volunteers, club staff and guests

• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task are of high importance

• Ability to apply logical thinking and problem-solving skills to carry out duties and make difficult decisions in high stress environments or situations

• Golf playing background is preferred

• Experience in working with volunteers is preferred

Compensation
The base salary range is $49,000 to $60,000 annually and based on qualifications and experience.
