Head Professional/Golf Operations Manager
The Prince Rupert Golf Club is located in Prince Rupert on the North Coast of British Columbia. Prince Rupert offers moderate annual climate with the ability for golf to be played 10 month per year. Prince Rupert offers, outdoor recreation opportunities, arts, culture and a small cosmopolitan center. The facility is a public course owned by the City of Prince Rupert and operated by the Prince Rupert Golf Club offering 18 holes with driving range facilities, putting green, club house, and all golf amenities. The club started in 1967 and currently we have 207 members. The club ownership is comprised of a society under the direction of an elected board of directors. The Head Golf Professional reports to the elected board of directors through the President of the society. In terms of accommodation in the Prince Rupert area, there are several new rental complexes nearing completion which should alleviate some of the recent issues.

- Responsibilities

Golf
- Recruit, train and develop Club staff
- Work closely with the president and Board of Directors to maximize the benefits they bring to members and guests, and to initiate activities which attract new members
- Work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent to ensure best turf care practices ensuring the optimum product for members and their guests, consistent with the direction given by the board.
- Work closely with the Clubhouse Liaison to coordinate all Clubhouse events.
- Responsible for all Lesson Programs/Instructional Academy
- Support all club events including member functions and responsibility for all outside tournaments
Finance
- Actively participate in the preparation of the Pro Shop’s annual budget and monthly forecasts and monitor actual performance against these.
- Embrace and enforce the directives and policies as set by the Board of Directors.
- Ensure the reconciliation and control of all the Pro Shop income streams.
- Manage the Golf Shop Retail operation through use of proper purchasing, inventory control, merchandising, promotion and marketing
Communication/Marketing
- Communicate with club members on all appropriate matters; use email, the club’s website, and approved social media to keep information up to date, and continually seek new ways to improve communications, in particular between management and the members/public.
- Promote the club externally thru use of marketing tools, databases, industry relationships and other available means
- Execute marketing strategies to achieve the agreed optimum number of Club members and green fee paying guests.
Administration
- Manage all aspects of the Pro Shop’s administration.
- Active role in the club, visible to members around the facility and at all relevant committee meetings.

- Qualifications

- PGA of Canada Member or Apprentice in good standing, with Class “A” status being a strong asset.
- 2+ years of Professional experience in a similar role, or progressive experience in a senior management position.
- Computer competence and experience with Tee On POS system is an asset
- Exceptional customer service background, including the skills and personality to create a professional and welcoming atmosphere that provides exceptional service for club members and their guests and/or public
- Ability to create and maintain an excellent work environment based upon teamwork and mutual respect
- Strong background in budget planning, club policies, and a proven ability to work effectively with a Board of Directors
- Effective marketing and communications background.
- Strong experience in hiring, training and supervising personnel
- Experience leading committee meetings, liaising with members, and running the day-to-day operations of a busy, financially responsible golf club.
- Compensation

- Yearly compensation $55,000 to $65,000, based on experience
- Detail of compensation to be negotiated based on qualifications and agreed metrics.
- Bonuses to be negotiated on sales, lessons, teaching etc.
