Job Summary
Reporting to the Kananaskis Area Manager and Golf Course Manager, the Head Professional is the “go to” person in terms of day-to-day service operations. Excellent organizational and communication skills coupled with strong interpersonal skills are key attributes for the position. General duties encompass overseeing of golf operations, retail/rental sales, management of the tee sheet, employee training & motivation, delegation of supervisory tasks, golf instruction and administrative tasks.
Responsibilities
  • Promote teamwork and a positive working environment to ensure the efficient operation of the Pro Shop/Retail/Rental department.
  • Provide leadership through direction, coaching, motivation, training and hands-on frontline customer service.
  • Lead and oversee the day-to-day golf operations at Wintergreen including all pre, on-course and post-round guest experiences, while ensuring an amazing guest experience is achieved.
  • Follow and implement RCR policies, including operating procedures, Human Resources, Health and Safety, and other policies relevant to the golf course operations.
  • Promote a safe workplace by ensuring all staff perform their duties in a safe manner in compliance with all health and safety legislated requirements, including the use of personal protective equipment.
  • Ensure that operating costs are minimized while meeting exceptional standards of service and quality.  Daily attention to operating hours and management of labor costs is essential.
  • Supervise, schedule and assist with payroll management for all service staff including Pro Shop, Back Shop and Starters/Marshals.
  • Provide a leadership role in retail sales promotion, merchandising and product knowledge.
  • Assist the RCR Merchandise Purchaser with inventory control, purchasing and processing of inventory receiving documents.
  • Develop golf instructional programs as required.
  • Have a leadership role in the organization and execution of member & corporate golf events.
  • Develop and follow preventative maintenance tactics to keep the golf carts, equipment & facilities clean and in good working order.
  • Participate in weekly management meetings and prepare departmental operations and financial reports as required.
  • Work together with other department managers to ensure important information is communicated, ensuring customer and member satisfaction at all events and on a day-to-day basis.
  • Assist and be willing to help in all areas of the golf course operation as necessary.
Qualifications
  • Class “A” Golf Professional with the PGA of Canada and member in good standing.
  • Experience as a Head Golf Professional or Associate Golf Professional at a golf course.
  • Incredible customer service and leadership skills.
  • Highly organized, efficient and detail oriented.
  • Must have strong computer skills and understand POS systems.
