HEAD GOLF PROFESSIONAL: Black Diamond Golf Club - Pontypool, Ontario

Black Diamond is a Semi-Private golf club located in Pontypool, Ontario along Highway 115. The Club has established a reputation for offering incredible value with a focus on being “best in class”. The management team and Board of Directors are committed to continuing to elevate the overall experience and have been making significant capital investments to assist in meeting our goals. In the last two years the club completed a clubhouse renovation, upgraded irrigation system, new turf equipment and 85 new club cars with GPS. In 2023 the club will continue to improve the overall quality of the facility with continued improvement to course conditions.

Black Diamond is seeking an engaging, service oriented professional to lead the golf operation. The ideal candidate will be hands on, visible and willing to work as part of the management team to meet all club objectives. To excel in this role, you will need to be extremely organized, detail oriented and possess a desire for continual improvement.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Head Golf Professional is responsible for overseeing and directing the Golf Department to include the Golf Shop and Golf Operations staff as well as the effective management of all golf activities (day to day play as well as internal and external events).

The Head Golf Professional will provide an exceptional member and staff experience within the confines of the approved annual operating budget. They will make it a priority to develop their team to ensure the operation functions just as smoothly in their absence.

Responsibilities

The Head Golf Professional will be accountable for leading the golf operation to include:

  • Leadership & HR - Hire, train and motivate a team of associates to exceed service expectations with each interaction
  • Golf Shop Retail Operation - Manage the annual purchase plan, merchandising requirements, sales & promotional activities, special order process, and inventory management
  • Event Management - Promotion, coordination, execution and reporting of all external and internal golf events
  • Financial Management - Build and execute the annual operating and capital budgets to match the club’s goals. Take corrective action as required to meet targets
  • Ensure the golf department capital assets (golf cart fleet, pull carts, etc.) are properly serviced and maintained
  • Club Involvement - An active member of the management team and pertinent committees to offer ideas, experience, and industry knowledge
Qualifications
  • This position requires an individual with a minimum 5 years’ experience as an Associate Professional or previous experience as a Head Golf Professional
  • Class “A” Member of the PGA of Canada in good standing
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • A proven track record meeting and exceeding financial targets while delivering the highest quality and consistency relating the member and guest experience, event execution and personnel development is essential
  • Ability to implement, tactfully enforce, and maintain club polices
  • Maintain and promote a well-respected and professional image within the Club, the industry and the community at large
  • A desire to play golf with members
Compensation
  • $950 - $1050 per week commensurate with experience
