The Mississaugua Golf and Country Club is one of Canada’s top private all-season golf clubs, with a diverse membership of 1,400 members and an outstanding Tier One golf course famous for its excellence.  The Club has played host to numerous premier events, including six Canadian Opens.

Founded in 1906, MG&CC is a year-round private club that offers golf, curling, tennis, dining, fitness and social amenities.  Our Tudor Clubhouse is a spectacular venue for casual and fine dining, banquets, weddings and various social events and functions.

Job Summary

The Head Associate Professional is responsible for providing a quality reputation and superior customer service for all members and guests of MG&CC. The Head Associate Professional will also deliver a high-quality lesson experience to all categories of membership; efficiently conduct Club events and daily operational procedures pertaining to on course activities, general Professional Shop operations and the retail sales programs.

The Head Associate Professional will lead by example and exemplify the position of a leader to all employees in promotion of the Club.

Responsibilities

General Professional Shop Operations including:

  • Leadership by providing positive reinforcement to create high morale among employees
  • Tee time management and assist with on course pace of play initiatives
  • Assists the Director of Golf in organizing and conducting all club tournaments.

Sales

  • Work alongside Merchandise and Retail Manager to ensure retail operations meet Member’s expectations
  • Lead retail sales and merchandise management
  • Attendance of product knowledge events
  • Knowledge of product features and benefits and to promote multiple selling
  • Club Fitting specialist and Fitting Day participation
  • Implement correct cash register and POS procedures
  • Maintain and enhance vendor relations

Inventory

  • Lead quarterly inventory checks, implement policies for inventory control, data input and packing slip/invoice maintenance
  • Lead club retail environment and follow operational directives
  • Monitor specific sponsor’s equipment inventory pertaining to levels and balancing programs

Personal presentation

  • To promote one’s self through a professional appearance that is becoming of a Golf Professional and demonstrate a high standard of personal hygiene

Teaching

  • To deliver a high standard of instruction to all categories of membership
  • To promote the lesson program to all categories of membership
  • Actively advertise & support all junior programs including the 3.6.9. Junior Night
  • Develop playing ability
  • Commit to continued professional development

Specific

  • Professional Shop Operations – oversee all daily Professional Shop Operations, including overall presentation, cleanliness, daily procedures, creation of weekly Professional Shop schedule, and serve as a liaison between the Professional Shop and Director of Golf
  • Implement procedures for correctly administrating and tracking of both member credit & sweeps
  • Assist the Director of Golf with the creation of promotional & marketing campaigns, increasing communication & foot traffic in Professional Shop
  • To assist the Director of Golf with the design and promotion of all golf-related events.
  • Assists the Director of Golf with annual and monthly budgets for the golf operations.
  • Orders supplies associated with golf activities.
  • Assists the Merchandise and Retail Manager in maintaining an attractive, orderly appearance in the Golf Shop.
  • Provides private lessons to Members and Guests.
  • Supervises Golf Shop personnel.
  • Supervises Assistant Golf Professionals on staff.
  • Interviews, hires, schedules, and supervises all Golf Operations staff.
  • Assists the Director of Golf in interpreting and enforcing golf rules and regulations.
  • In absence of the Director of Golf will take Golf Operations point person role.
Qualifications
  • Class A Member in good standing of the PGA of Canada
  • Bring 3-5 years of experience
  • Post-secondary degree or working towards PGM college diploma preferred
  • Strong communicator with excellent organizational skills
  • Must be a self-starter and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Creative thought and problem solving abilities
  • Knowledge of Jonas POS, GGGolf Tee Sheet and Golf Genius TMS an asset
  • Merchandise & Retail experience an asset
  • Club repair, fitting, teaching & strong playing skills an asset
  • Hardworking and reliable
  • Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
  • Shift work hours – days and afternoons on weekdays, weekends and public holidays
