Head Professional: Hirsch Creek Golf & Winter Club

The Hirsch Creek Golf & Winter Club (HCGWC) located in Kitimat, B.C. has an immediate opening for the position of Head Golf Professional.

The HCGWC is a year-round semi-private club consisting of an 18-hole golf course, four sheet curling facility and a restaurant/ lounge area. The club has approximately 300 members and isalso in partnership with the District of Kitimat to promote the use of the facility beyond Golfand Curling, to include snow shoeing, tobogganing, cross-country skiing and hiking/walking.

The HCGWC is a challenging 18-hole, par 72, golf course surrounded by some of the most stunning mountain scenery in the Province. With a variety of superbly designed holes, the Course always presents members and guests with a memorable golf experience. The beautiful front 9, designed by Les Furber, winding its way through the wilderness, to create outstanding views from tee boxes and fairways. The back 9 is an established layout that utilizes the natural terrain to form a more traditional golf experience.

The clubhouse is set amongst some of the most scenic views in Northern BC. The club has a 130-seat licensed clubhouse and deck along with a second private meeting / dining room and a recently installed Full Swing Pro Golf Simulator.

Job Summary
Reporting to the General Manager, the Head Golf Professional will be responsible for the strategic planning and management of Golf and Pro-Shop operations, including all related personnel, finances, and facilities.
Responsibilities

We are seeking a Head Professional to:

  • Assume full responsibility of the Golf, Simulator & Pro-Shop operations including special events and corporate outings.
  • Provide open communication and accessibility to the public, Membership, General Manager and Board.
  • Provide lessons for both Members and the Public.
  • Coordination with the Club’s Golf and Curling Leagues/Committees, and their respective events, to promote effective and efficient planning and delivery.
  • Establish community outreach opportunities and Membership growth through Golf Camps and Jr. Golf Programs.
  • Develop great Member relations.
Qualifications

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven track record as a Head Golf Professional with planning, resource and budgeting skills to complement their qualifications as a Golf Head Professional.
  • Demonstrated good judgement, a positive attitude and an engaging presence.
  • Comfortable with communicating a vision, being highly visible and engaging.
  • You will be our ambassador with Members, Staff, Guests, and Industry Representatives.
  • The ability to deliver excellent Member and Guest experience, which drives your proven ability to lead a team of friendly, engaging, service-oriented staff and volunteers.
  • Your education and experience demonstrate your comprehension of the many skills required for this role and that you can build and sustain relationships and produce results.
  • Experience and understanding of hospitality, golf, and recreation. Experience in Food & Beverage and Curling Operations would be considered an asset.

Qualifications being sought:

  • Class “A” Professional in good standing with the PGA of Canada. Post-Secondary Degree in Golf Management and/or Business Management.
  • Very detail oriented with a strong focus on exceptional customer service.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficient computer skills, in particular Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel & Word), Social Media and previous use of Integrated Business Solutions (IBS) Club Software considered an asset.
Compensation
2024 / 2025 Budget Salary - $80,000.00. Base Salary – based on experience/education.
