Head Professional

The Wingfield Golf Club (formerly Silverwing) is in the process of reestablishing it self within the Calgary golf community. A 27 hole layout on 300 acres ranging from 5300 to over 7200 yards. Wingfield is a public golf club with a annual membership of 150. Ownership is committed to improving playing conditions on course including the 20 acre practice facility after being unkept for the 2020 season.

This individual is a leader with the ability to motivate their staff so execution of daily tasks become routine. They are the difference maker! We’re looking for a PERSONALITY that makes everyone around them strive to be better, leading by example.

Job Summary

The Golf Professional is responsible for effectively managing, overseeing and participating in all aspects of the Pro Shop operation including: customer service, marketing, membership sales, teaching lessons, outside services, driving range, facility & equipment maintenance, team building and staff development.

Manage all sources of revenue with a focus on maintaining costs, quality standards and maximizing profits.

Responsibilities

Customer Service

  • Creates a customer service oriented atmosphere that promotes the game of golf and meets the needs of the Members and Guests. This would include weekday/weekend leagues and tournament leagues.
  • Serve as an Ambassador improving Member relations and communication, keeping Membership as the priority and critical success factor of the club.
  • Supervise guest check in and coordinate activities between the Golf Shop and Guest Services to ensure efficient course operation, complete guest satisfaction, and maximizing  profitability.
  • Participating in daily operations as required to support the team.
  • Reconciles daily tee sheets, performs check-ins, and receives payments from members and guests.

Administrative

  • Assists in the development and day to day tracking of the budget and business plan.
  • Performs payroll tasks as scheduled and make adjustments prior to submitting to payroll.
  • Inventory control and management.
  • Approval needed for expenditures that are above and beyond the approved budget, any policy and rate changes.
  • Ensure all applicants have been processed through to Payroll.
  • Ensure Health and Safety Standards are being adhered to.

Training and Development

  • Participate with the ongoing development of the operating manuals for pro-shop, outside services and driving range attendants.
  • Develop job descriptions and staff training manuals.
  • Direct, coach and manage the team to ensure all standards and operating procedures are adhered to.
  • Recruit, Hire and Train all Golf Services Team Members.

Directing and Delegating

  • Communicate organizational goals to the team through weekly meetings and events.
  • Foster a success oriented and accountable environment.
  • Teaching a genuine customer service attitude. One that cares.
  • Implement and maintain effective open communication that crosses departmental lines to reach all employees.
Qualifications
  • PGA of Canada member in good standing.
  • Smart Serve certification an asset.
  • Working knowledge of Light Speed HQ or Chrono-golf an asset.
  • Must have the ability to deal with adversity on a regular basis.
  • Able to thrive in a fast paced environment.
  • Having the ability to be a “Forward Thinker” is a must.
  • Proficient computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, and  Microsoft  Office.
  • Problem solver.
  • A team player who leads by example.
  • A service driven individual dedicated to the member, guest and employee experience.
Compensation
  • $3600-$4200 monthly (based on candidate)
  • Lesson revenue 70%
