Golf Shop Manager: Glencoe Golf & Country Club - Calgary, AB

The Glencoe Golf & Country Club is looking for a Golf Shop Manager to join the Golf Operations team. We are looking for a self starter who has the passion to continue to grow in the golf industry. Our ideal candidate would possess excellent leadership, personal, and organizational skills, and be a great two-way communicator with the ability to deliver exceptional experiences to the members.

We are a 45-hole private golf club on 440 acres, located just west of the Calgary city limits on Highway 8. The Glencoe Golf and Country Club takes pride in having a premium golf and practice facility featuring full grass tee double ended range, extensive short game improvement area, substantial teaching program, technology such as JC video, BodiTrack, TrackMan and is proud to offer superior dining venues with beautiful views of the Rocky Mountains. The Clubhouse was recently fully renovated providing a first-class golf shop.

With over 440 acres, the Golf Club hosts members, their guests and has a busy Corporate Tournament program. It also hosts the Glencoe Invitational, a tournament recognized by the World Amateur Order of Merit in which top tier Men & Women Amateurs compete.

In 2022, the Clubhouse was fully renovated providing a first-class golf shop which annually produces $1.1 million in merchandise sales, and additional $1.2 million in green fees and golf cart revenues. The Club hosts close to 60,000 rounds of golf per year.

The qualified candidate will be expected to be the key person on the Golf Operations team to ensure quality control of all member services, retail, member events and back shop services. As Golf Shop Manager, the skills learned should position the individual to be ready to take on other leadership roles in the future.

Job Summary

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the facility’s golf operations to adequately meet and exceed membership service levels, with the main focus of

  • Retail merchandise execution
  • Manage all non-PGA Staff in the golf Operations including the back shop department

• Coordination of all retail activities

  • Merchandising including properly displaying the golf shop to the highest of standards
  • Train and develop retail golf shop team members to assist with meeting financial sales targets
  • Plan and execute a retail buying plan including maintaining within Open to Buy parameters
  • Have merchandise follow a set procedure from ordering to final sale to ensure that invoices are received correctly, and payments are made on time to maximize early payment discounts

• Build and lead a strong team in the golf operations

  • Responsible for overseeing all hiring, motivating of the retail and back Shop Team
  • Review of the operating procedures to continue to grow the overall golf operations service with assistance from the Back Shop Manager

• Manage golf-related administration and financial activities such as budgeting, forecasting, payroll, and reporting

Qualifications

• A proven track record, with minimum of 3 years in a supervisory or management capacity at a private club or a retail and merchandising establishment

• Ability to build and maintain relationships with the members and fellow teammates

• PGA of Canada Professional Preferred

• Relevant education and experience

• Proficient with Microsoft Office software, Club Management Software (club utilizes Northstar Software) and Golf Genius or similar

• Reliable transportation is required as there is no public transportation to our location

Compensation

Salary commensurate with experience and education.

$60,000-80,000/year
