The ideal candidate is an individual with an entrepreneurial spirit, exceptional management skills, and a genuine passion for the game of golf and the community it serves. This is a full-time, year-round position reporting directly to the Board of Directors. Smithers and the surrounding area is home to approximately 10,000 residents, has an airport and hospital, and hosts a wide variety of outdoor sports and hobbies year round. The SGCC provides a picturesque work environment, with a culture that balances professional performance with a close-knit community feel.
The course and facilities are situated at the foot of Hudson Bay Mountain in the scenic Bulkley Valley, offering breathtaking views of mountains from all sides. The 18-hole, par-72 championship course features rolling hills, mature trees, a winding creek, and water hazards that challenge golfers of all skill levels. The 170 person capacity clubhouse provides a welcoming atmosphere, housing the pro shop, a restaurant, and a lounge and hosts several large events each year. The SGCC golf course is typically operational from late April to late October. The indoor golf simulator program is run inside the clubhouse from November to April, and is complimented by the Winter Walking Trails offered through the course in the off- season. The SGCC operates as a non-profit society and balances serving its dedicated membership base with welcoming public golfers. With a long history dating back to the 1930s, the club is a cornerstone of the community, relying on an enthusiastic membership dedicated to its success. - Responsibilities

- Manage all day-to-day operations including the pro shop, member services, tournaments, leagues, clubhouse operations, and food and beverage service contracts.
- Create, manage, and monitor the club's budget including payroll, purchasing, and inventory control. Ensure profitability by tracking revenue, controlling expenses, and identifying new revenue streams.
- Recruit, hire, train, and supervise all club staff and volunteers. Foster a positive and professional work environment that promotes excellent customer service and professionalism.
- Develop and execute strategies to attract and retain members. Enhance the club's profile through marketing, community liaison, and promotion of events.
- Cultivate strong relationships with members and guests, ensuring their satisfaction by addressing concerns and actively seeking feedback.
- Work in collaboration with the Course Superintendent to oversee the care and upkeep of the golf course, clubhouse, and all club facilities.
- Manage and grow the Indoor Golf Simulator program through the winter months including managing tournaments and functions.
- Work with the Board of Directors to refine policies and procedures ensuring compliance with industry best practices.
- Provide regular reports and updates to the Board of Directors, participate in monthly board meetings, continue to implement the governance model and strategic direction of the club.
- Qualifications

- Management experience, preferably within a golf club or similar hospitality setting.
- Class A membership certification in good standing with the PGA of Canada.
- Experience in the use of Point-of-Sale systems, accounting software, and proficiency with social media.
- Strong financial acumen, including experience with budgeting, financial reporting, and payroll.
- Proven experience in staff supervision, hiring, training, and performance management.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, conflict resolution, and leadership skills.
- Strong customer service orientation, and a commitment to providing an exceptional experience for members and guests.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
- Must be willing to relocate to Smithers, BC (or surrounding area)
Assets
- Post Secondary degree in Golf Management and/or Business Management (or equivalent education and/or experience).
- Proficient with Lightspeed, Golf Genius, Chronogolf, and Golf Canada software applications.
- Certification in Serving it Right, First Aid, WHMIS, Food Safe.

- Salary $80,000 - $105,000 + bonuses, based on experience.
