Job Summary

South Muskoka Curling & Golf Club is a bustling year-round facility home to 520 golf members and 300 curling members. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the General Manager is expected to provide quality leadership, inspiring a shared vision for the Club, and leading a strong team to understand this vision. The ideal candidate will possess strong business acumen, with expertise in finance, human resources, food and beverage, and project management.

Direct reports: Director of Golf & Curling, Head Chef, Superintendent, F&B Manager, Office Administrator.

Responsibilities
  • Managing all staff in accordance with Club polices and provincial legislation
  • Establishing procedures to carry out the objectives and policies established by the Board
  • Responsible for overall membership services and relations
  • Preparing annual operating and capital budgets for the Board’s review and approval. In addition, prepare 5-year financial forecasts as required by the Board
  • Supervising all staff by ensuring their duties and responsibilities are properly defined and efficiently performed through the heads of each department
  • Acting as the Team Leader at South Muskoka, conducting regular department head meetings
  • Attending all meetings as required or requested in relation to the Club’s business operations
  • Ensuring the golf course and curling rink is maintained and conditions upheld to a high standard through the Course Superintendent
  • Coordinating the preparation of menus for banquets, special events, dining room, price structures, etc. in conjunction with the Food & Beverage Manager and Head Chef, including the dining room’s operation efficiency and service
  • Ensure billings for events and special functions held in the Club are properly and accurately processed by all parties involved
  • Responsible for the marketing / sales / communication plan of the Club, helping meet financial targets as established by the Board
  • Facilities management, monitoring the requirements of any repairs or improvements that may need to be done inside or outside of the buildings and property and ensure they are carried out
  • Overseeing the office and administration functions through the Office Administrator by ensuring the financial statements are prepared monthly, overdue accounts are followed up, purchases and accounts receivables are properly recorded
  • Ensure that all administrative functions of South Muskoka are carried out using the current best practices in the business and in an efficient manner
  • Preparing a detailed monthly report to the Board including detailed financial updates, reports from committee meetings, and any other information or details that will require the Boards approval
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of prior club management and/or hospitality management experience
  • University Degree in Business Administration or related field preferred
  • Strong background in finance, human resources, project management, food and beverage/ Golf, curling, club management experience a definite asset
  • Personable, outgoing, and effective leader.
Compensation
Salary: $100,000 - $125,000, Commensurate with experience.
