The Hirsch Creek Golf & Winter Club (HCGWC) located in Kitimat, B.C. has an immediate opening for the position of General Manager.
The HCGWC is a year-round semi-private club consisting of an 18-hole golf course, four sheet curling facility and a restaurant/ lounge area. The club has approximately 300 members and is also in partnership with the District of Kitimat to promote the use of the facility beyond Golf and Curling, to include snow shoeing, tobogganing, cross-country skiing and hiking/walking.
The HCGWC is a challenging 18-hole, par 72, golf course surrounded by some of the most stunning mountain scenery in the Province. With a variety of superbly designed holes, the Course always presents members and guests with a memorable golf experience. The beautiful front 9, designed by Les Furber, winding its way through the wilderness, to create outstanding views from tee boxes and fairways. The back 9 is an established layout that utilizes the natural terrain to form a more traditional golf experience.
The clubhouse is set amongst some of the most scenic views in Northern BC. The club has a 130-seat licensed clubhouse and deck along with a second private meeting / dining room and a recently installed Full Swing Pro Golf Simulator.

- Job Summary
- Reporting to the HCGWC Board of Directors, the General Manager will be responsible for the strategic planning and management of all Golf and Curling Operations and Facilities at this year- round facility. The General Manager is responsible for effectively managing and overseeing all aspects of the operations including: the golf course, pro shop, curling rink, food & beverage and maintenance.

The General Manager is to coordinate the activities of the Club to:
- Actively promote the HCGWC while contributing to peak operation and financial responsibility through customer service and value.
- Hire, mentor and inspire your team in accordance with hiring and training processes.
- Inventory Control and Management.
- Employee safety, welfare, and health.
- Develop annual plans & budgets for the property with the Board of Directors.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the property.
- Communicating and coordinating with all departments.
- Establish strong relationships with members, guests, industry representatives and local interest groups.
Primary Objectives:
- Operate the property in accordance with policies, procedures, and the annual operating budget developed in consultation with Board of Directors.
- Manage and maximize all sources of revenue with a focus on maintaining cost, quality standards, while targeting sales opportunities through marketing, including promotions and special events.
- Participation in daily operations is required to support the team.
- Ensure that all appropriate systems and controls are in place to produce accurate monthly financial reports and always know where the business stands against budget.
- Develop and promote in-house programs.
- Maintain member and guest satisfaction by handling inquiries, concerns or comments and providing solutions; acquiring feedback from members/guests and co-workers to ensure customer satisfaction and repeat business.
- Being prepared for all events at the property, ensuring special requests for large groups are accommodated, and ensuring the team has the resources available for smooth execution of an event.
- Lead your direct reports to develop/update operating manuals for pro-shop, food & beverage, course maintenance, safety plans, tournament play, and facilities maintenance.
- Develop job descriptions and staff training manuals with the goal of internal growth and development of your staff.
- Direct, coach and manage the team to ensure all standards and operating procedures are adhered to.
- Communicate organizational goals to the team through weekly / monthly meetings and events.
- Qualifications

Position Requirements:
- At least 3 years of experience in a General Manager role.
- Preference in the Hospitality, Food & Beverage or Golf industries.
- Serving it Right, First Aid, WHMIS, Food Safe would be an asset.
- PGA of Canada Class A Membership certification would be an asset.
- Ability to resolve problems efficiently and professionally.
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to manage personnel and meet financial targets with proven experience managing financial results.
- A service driven individual dedicated to the guest and employee experience.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills and the ability to interact well with members, daily fee golfers and their guests.
- Ability to build and maintain member relationships.
- Strong work ethic.
- Ability to analyze and solve problems; efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure with minimal supervision; work flexible hours as required including evenings & weekends.
- Reporting to and interaction with Society President and Governing Board of Directors.

- 2024 / 2025 Budgeted salary of $90,000.00
- Salary based on Club financial year of Oct 1 to Sept 30
