Job Summary
We are seeking a Director of Operations who is dedicated to the Club’s Mission, Vision, and Values. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the successful candidate will administer all Club operations in accordance with the strategic, financial, and operational direction set by the Board.
Responsibilities
The Director of Operations will be expected to administer all aspects of the Club including activities and relationships between the Club and its Board of Directors, members, guests, employees, community, government, and industry. The GM/COO is the leader of the Club’s management team and is responsible for the financial accountability of the club and managing all facets of the Club’s operations.
Qualifications

The Director of Operations will report to the Board of Directors. Given the leading role this individual will play in achieving the Club’s strategic business objectives, it is essential that the successful candidate possess the following core competencies, experience, and attributes.

BUSINESS/FINANCE SKILLS:

  • Is analytical with the ability to proactively use data in forecasting and managing revenue and costs and opportunities for revenue generation;
  • An entrepreneurial style combined with a strong understanding of all aspects of business management including business development, finance, information technology, marketing, human resources, risk management and performance management;
  • Experience managing operations and capital projects preferred
  • A self-starter with a results-oriented work style combined with excellent verbal and written communication skills. A demonstrated ability to build relationships with members and the business community.

MEMBER AND GUEST EXPERIENCE:

  • Has the ability to, lead, delegate and oversee/set high standards for the golf course and all facilities, services, and communications while holding their teammates to the same level of accountability to which the successful candidate will be held by the President and Board;
  • Has experience with managing food and beverage and banquet services.

LEADERSHIP SKILLS:

  • A trustworthy, dependable, and dynamic leader with the proven ability to build strong teams by motivating staff and leading by example;
  • Supports, mentors and inspires department managers and their teams to enhance member experiences while delegating to those trusted teammates;
  • A confident, diplomatic, competent professional who is a “doer.” A take-charge person who recognizes the importance of accountability and innovation
  • Provides a respectful workplace;
  • Proudly represents the Club to external groups. Proven ability to hire, manage, and extricate from employee relationships if necessary.

INTERPERSONAL:

  • Demonstrates integrity and ethical conduct and fosters a welcoming and inclusive club for members, staff and guests;
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing needs in schedule demands & time commitments. There is an expectation that the holder of this position will be: Present and visible at the club during pre-determined and agreed upon business hours and Club events. “Agreed upon business hours” will align with the seasonality of the operations. This position is not “remote” in nature.

EDUCATION:

  • A post-secondary education/degree in business, hospitality or professional golf management credential is preferred.
  • A high level of financial acumen evidenced by accreditation or post secondary education in the financial field will be a definitive differentiator amongst applicants.

EXPERIENCE AND ACCREDITATION:

  • Experience as a senior leader of a successful business or business segment inside a larger operation is preferred. Experience in a private club atmosphere (note: private golf club experience is not necessary). or other similar top tier facility catering to needs, desires and management of private club members is preferred;
  • Experience in the hospitality industry with an excellent understanding of food and beverage operations, including pricing, menu development, inventory management and costing is a highly valued competency;
  • Proven experience developing and managing budgets and business plans;
  • Experience reporting to a volunteer board
  • Evidence of continued professional development.
Compensation

The Club will offer a compensation package, commensurate with experience and breadth of role as well as benefits. Salary range: 100K+

This will include an incentive package tied to positive contribution of each amenity (Pro Shop, Golf, Food and Beverage and Curling) as well as the overall financial performance of the club as measured by 3 to 5 KPI’s.
