We’re seeking a General Manager to help shape something meaningful in our community. Locally owned and deeply rooted in Nova Scotia, our club is built on pride, connection, and a shared vision for excellence. You’ll work with the managing partner and a collaborative leadership team to create exceptional experiences for members, guests, and employees alike—within a fast‑paced, people‑first environment where relationships, culture, and community truly matter

The General Manager provides overall leadership and direction for the club, playing a key role in advancing our mission, financial objectives, and core values. This role is responsible for delivering exceptional experiences for members, guests, and employees by driving strategic initiatives, fostering a positive and inclusive culture, and ensuring excellence across all areas of club operations.

Responsibilities
  • Provide overall leadership and strategic direction for the club, advancing its mission, financial objectives, and core values.
  • Oversee all club operations, including golf operations, course maintenance, clubhouse facilities, administration, and food and beverage including the Deerfield Pub, ensuring high standards of service and quality to both members and guests.
  • Lead and support department heads through clear direction, coaching, performance management, and accountability for results.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and people‑focused workplace culture that promotes teamwork, professionalism, and employee development.
  • Ensure exceptional experiences for members and guests by maintaining service excellence, strong communication, and a welcoming, family‑friendly club environment across all facilities, including the restaurant and bar operations.
  • Manage the club’s financial performance, including budgeting, revenue generation, expense control, and adherence to approved financial policies and internal controls.
  • Chair monthly ownership meetings and provide updates on operations, financial performance, and strategic initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with all licensing, regulatory, and safety requirements, and that operational policies and procedures are documented, followed, and regularly reviewed.
  • Act as an ambassador for the club within the golf industry and local community, building strong relationships with members, partners, and stakeholders
Qualifications
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, Sports/Recreation Management or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and substantial industry experience.
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of senior leadership experience in the golf industry or a comparable hospitality/leisure operation.
  • Solid experience with budgeting and financial analysis with the ability to interpret financial reports and use data to inform decision-making.
  • Strong understanding of golf club operations and standards, including familiarity with golf course maintenance basics, tee sheet management, pace-of-play best practices, tournament and event coordination, and member service excellence.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to inspire trust, collaboration, and accountability across diverse teams.
  • Experience developing leaders at multiple levels, including department heads and supervisors, through coaching, mentoring, succession planning, and performance management.
  • Ability to lead through change, including organizational restructuring, operational growth, service model improvements, or cultural transformation.
  • Proficiency with general office software (Microsoft 365) and golf industry-specific systems such as tee sheet/POS systems.
Compensation
$120,000 - $140,000
