The Retail Manager is a key leader at the club, providing an exceptional experience in the Pro Shop for our members and their guest. They work closely with the Head Pro in the creation of the yearly buying plan and will be the driving force for the daily implementation and planning of the Retail Sales Operations in the Golf Shop.
The retail team is in charge of organization and storage of inventory, retail floor planning, daily shop presentation and marketing and sales of all shop inventories. They will work to maximize the profitability and inventory turnover rates, as well as optimizing in season ‘Open to Buy’ purchasing for the Golf Shop.
- Responsibilities

Purchasing:
• In season Open to Buy purchasing
• Buying show strategy and attendance in Vancouver, Ottawa and Florida (every 2 years)
• Tracking of total merchandise purchasing plan at the golf shows
• Updating the annual purchase plan
• Meet with reps prior to booking season
Selling:
• Train and Manage daily tasks for retail assistants in relation to all retail concerns
• Plan, promote and market events
• Monitor shop presentation, cleanliness and appearance
• Oversee POS procedures for the entire staff
• Pricing, planning and arranging of merchandise
• Loyalty program planning and follow through
• Promotion of corporate sales program
Budgeting:
• Providing annual and monthly sales targets and reports for review with the Golf Shop Team and with the Head Professional
Inventory Management & Control:
• Establish and closely monitor soft goods Special Order and return to vendor programs
• Plan and Lead physical inventories
• Follow through on Golf Shop marketing plan
• Evaluate stock levels and initiate 30/60/90 markdown plan
• Ensure accurate pricing, receiving and tagging of new and old inventory
• Communicate with Club Controller and Pro Shop Committee
Personnel Supervision:
• Oversee training of retail staff
• Provide positive reinforcement to create a high morale among all retail and professional employees
• Coordinate and schedule product knowledge seminars with vendors
• Daily shift assignments for retail staff
Marketing:
• Monthly retail operation newsletter article
• Responding to inquiries and complaints to do with the retail operation
• Web based retail solutions (e-tail, e-bay, facebook, instagram, etc.) Club Events:
• Event prize table presentation
- Qualifications

• PGA of Canada Member in good standing an asset
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Previous experience at a private club is an asset
• Previous experience managing a retail operation
- Compensation
-
• Compensation commensurate with experience (expected between $23 and $28 per hour)
• $750 per year in professional development
• 75-95% lesson revenue (depending on experience) with opportunity to teach $10,000+ per year.
