Associate Professional: The Redwoods Golf Course

The Redwoods Golf Course located in Langley, BC is a scenic public 18-hole championship course with a gorgeous backdrop of the coastal mountains. With a Ted Locke design, the course is a mix of open links-style golf paired with the tree-lined fairways of a traditional west coast style.

The course is split level and the dramatic elevation changes offer a stiff challenge to golfers of all abilities. In addition to the course, Redwoods offers full practice facilities that include a covered, heated and lit driving range, short game area, putting green and practice bunker.

Job Summary

As an ambassador for The Redwoods Golf Course you will have the opportunity to create extraordinary golf experiences and lasting memories for our guests and yours as they enjoy the facilities.

This position has been designed for a leader in the business of golf looking to establish and/or further their career; an individual that will supervise the daily golf operation, directly engage with customers upon their arrival, and teach a variety of golf instructional programs. This position will require 24 – 32 hours or work per week in the golf shop and outside services. Additionally, this position will have the opportunity to teach golf lessons outside of scheduled hours through the Redwoods Golf Academy.

Responsibilities

Summary of Responsibilities:

Reporting to and maintaining cohesive communication with the Head Golf Professional, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

Teaching

  • Assist in launching the new Redwoods Golf Academy
  • Assist in the promotion and execution of Redwoods Golf Academy and lesson program
  • Teach junior golf classes and community golf clinics through the Redwoods Golf Academy
  • Oversee and supervise additional teaching professionals in the program
  • Oversee the Redwoods Junior Golf Program
  • Effectively communicate with the golf teaching team to ensure guest expectations are exceeded
  • Lesson revenue opportunities - Retain 80% of lesson revenue

Golf Shop

  • Greet and assist guests prior to and following their round of golf including making tee time reservations and completing tee time check-ins
  • Be familiar with the tee time reservation system and all company policies regarding booking and playing privileges for staff and public
  • Effectively make sales for green fees, driving range, merchandise, clubs and rentals while following proper cash handling procedures
  • Consistently offer professional, engaging and friendly customer service
  • Effectively communicate with the golf operations team to ensure guest expectations are exceeded
  • Daily supervision of Golf Shop including the tee sheet, merchandise, inventory and customer service levels
  • Effectively communicate with the golf team and other departments to ensure guests’ expectations are exceeded
  • Supervise and assist with the course pace of play and golf etiquette
  • Monitor and maintain general cleanliness of driving range, golf carts and clubs
  • Other duties as assigned

 

 

Qualifications

Skills and Abilities

  • Phenomenal customer service skills and a passion for hospitality
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in playing and teaching golf
  • Excellent administration and organizational skills
  • Ability to focus on guest needs while confidently responding to problems in a calm, courteous, and helpful manner
  • Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work cohesively with fellow colleagues as part of a team

Qualifications

  • The successful applicant will possess an outgoing disposition and be a leader in the business of golf
  • PGA of Canada member in good standing
  • Must have a great understanding of the game of golf
  • Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by industry and facility demands
  • Willingness to complete a Police Information Check is required
Compensation
  • $23 - 30 per hour based on experience
  • 24 – 32 hours a week depending on the time of season

  • A hard working individual will be able to make $40,000+ in lesson revenue and is only limited on earnings, by how much they want to work.
