Job Summary
We are looking for a motivated Associate / Apprentice Professional to be a leader and showcase exemplar characteristics for our golf team. As a member of the leadership team, the selected candidate will supervise the golf shop daily operations, lead and supervise the guest services teams and take on a supportive role with league operations. The successful candidate will be encouraged and supported to grow in instruction, fitting and professional golf programs.
Responsibilities
  • Supervise the daily operation of the golf shop including the tee sheet accuracy, ensuring high customer service standards, and welcoming guests to the facility
  • Merchandise inventory in an efficient and appealing manner to highlight and effectively display items, as well as give the golf shop a fluent appearance and feel
  • Supervise the training of each staff member to ensure all graduate from the training program
  • Supervise the golf shop attendants, marshals, starters, and outside services teams, ensuring they are staying productive and efficient with their time
  • Supervise daily staff and act as a “Manager on Duty” to ensure the use of proper scripts and selling techniques, as well as handling any requests and complaints as required
  • Work closely with other professional staff to ensure all league play is being coordinated and executed to The Winston standards
  • Responsible to ensure results and prizing are awarded in a timely manner
  • Supervise the nightly play, including any scheduling tee times, post round live scoring and prize presentations post round
  • Act as a steward of golf by representing The Winston and the PGA of Alberta with professionalism and adhering to the PGA Code of Conduct
  • Develop and teach lesson programs to golfers of a wide variety of skill levels in private, semiprivate and clinic atmospheres
  • Assist in the execution of a First-Class Junior Program
  • Actively schedule and fit members and public to further promote the sales of hard goods
  • Engage in the repair, the construction and adjusting of golf clubs for members and customers
  • Play golf with members as time and duties permit
Qualifications
  • Member of the PGA of Canada in good standing preferred
  • Experience as an Apprentice or Associate Professional
  • Certified equipment fitting from golf’s major suppliers
  • TCCP Beginner required for Individual Lessons
  • Successful staff training and supervising experience
  • Strong professional communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Skill and knowledge of Golf Genius and Jonas an asset
  • Golf Education or Post-Secondary education an asset
Compensation
  • Monthly Salary of $3200 - $3600 (based on experience)
  • Lesson Revenues (100%)
