Assistant/Associate Professional: Carleton Golf & Yacht Club

Established in 1963, Carleton Golf & Yacht Club is a member-owned private club on the banks of the Rideau River in Ottawa and was one of North America's earliest golf course residential communities.

Known for outstanding course conditions, a friendly atmosphere and an active membership, Carleton offers golf and social programming throughout the year. Its 12-month facilities include an Indoor Golf Academy powered by TrackMan and a fitness area. Carleton has also hosted PGA of Ottawa Zone and national PGA championships, along with numerous Ottawa Valley Golf Association events.

Job Summary

Carleton is seeking an ambitious, energetic and service-minded PGA of Canada professional to join its Golf Operations team. This is more than a supporting position: it offers meaningful responsibility across the full operation while building the judgment, business knowledge and leadership presence required of an aspiring Head Professional.

The successful candidate will work directly with the Head Golf Professional and management team, with a particular mandate to build club fitting into a stronger, more visible and more consistent part of the member golf experience.

You will be trusted with real responsibility, supported in developing your strengths and challenged to understand how every part of a successful private-club golf operation fits together. For the right professional, this role is intended to be a meaningful step toward leading a golf operation of their own.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver attentive, professional and personal service to members, guests and tournament participants in every interaction.
  • Support daily Golf Shop operations, including tee-time service, member inquiries, supervision and development of Member Services staff, and consistent operational follow-through.
  • Help lead the growth of club fitting by creating opportunities, promoting appointments, coordinating vendor days, conducting fittings and following through on orders.
  • Provide private lessons, junior camps, clinics and player-development programming for golfers of varying ages and abilities.
  • Assist with member events, leagues, championships and outside tournaments, including Golf Genius setup, communications, scoring and day-of coordination.
  • Contribute to retail operations through sales, merchandising, special orders, receiving, inventory control and strong product knowledge.
  • Assist with club repair, equipment service and the presentation of fitting and practice areas.
  • Build relationships by playing golf with members of varying abilities and represent Carleton and the PGA of Canada with professionalism and pride.
Qualifications
  • PGA of Canada membership in good standing, or active progress toward PGA of Canada membership.
  • A clear desire to build a long-term career in the golf industry and develop toward future leadership.
  • Strong member-service instincts and the confidence to communicate professionally in person, by telephone and in writing.
  • Demonstrated club fitting and equipment knowledge, or the technical curiosity and work ethic required to become exceptional in this area.
  • The ability to organize competing priorities, solve problems calmly and follow tasks through to completion.
  • A collaborative mindset, positive attitude and willingness to contribute wherever the operation requires support.
  • Experience with Golf Genius, GGGolf, Jonas, TrackMan or comparable golf-industry systems is considered an asset.
  • Tournament operations or previous private-club experience is considered an asset.
  • Post-secondary in Professional Golf Management, business, hospitality or related field is considered an asset.
Compensation
  • $1,000-1,200 weekly (Competitive weekly compensation commensurate with experience and PGA designation).
  • 100% of revenue from private lessons delivered by the successful candidate.
