THE CLUB
The City of Vernon is nestled in the North Okanagan and surrounded by mountains, lakes, orchards and vineyards. Vernon is a vibrant community with full amenities, great golf, world class skiing, and is a playground for tourists and locals year-round. The Vernon Golf and Country Club has deep roots in the community and has been in operation since 1913. It is an exciting time for the club as we have seen major improvements to the clubhouse and to the grounds over the past 3 years. The work is presently being completed to update the Clubs Irrigation System.
Currently the Golf Club services a full membership of 675 members along with a lengthy waitlist, public play and corporate and charity golf tournaments. With this diversity in clientele the Golf Professional Team is able to see all facets of the golf industry. The Club has a Practice Facility that features an irons only Driving Range, Hitting Nets, 3 Practice Greens, an On Course 100 Yard Wedge Practice Area and a Trackman Launch Monitor along with an Offseason Trackman Simulator.
At the present time The Vernon Golf & Country Club is accepting applications for an Assistant Golf Professional for the 2024 golf season and beyond. The successful candidate will report directly to the Head Golf Professional and work closely with the Golf Operations Manager assuming a leadership role within the golf operation.

THE OPPORTUNITY
The ideal candidate will be responsible to work within a team framework and communicate with co-workers, the Head Golf Professional and Golf Operations Manager daily. The successful candidate is committed to providing the highest level of customer service for all members and guests on a consistent basis.
Applicants must be service-oriented, possess exceptional communication skills & attention to detail, energy, and self-confidence, and display a genuine caring attitude towards people. This position has a variety of opportunities for learning and growth around Instructional, Retail, Tournaments and Events, Member Experiences, and drive the Junior Program. This position will include a mix of Golf Shop Hours and ample time for Teaching Opportunities.

- Responsibilities

- Create an exceptional golf experience through enlightened hospitality, and dedicated teamwork with all Club employees, while displaying a genuine caring attitude for Vernon Golf and Country Club Members and Guests.
- Work with fellow Golf Operations Team Members to ensure an efficient and friendly customer service level throughout the day-to-day Golf Operations.
- Possess a strong understanding of and promote Club activities and services.
- Assist in managing inventory, receive product and the special-order programming of a strong retail operation.
- Assist the Golf Operations Manager and Head Golf Professional with running of all weekly league play and major club tournaments.
- Assisting with outside groups and tournaments to ensure that guests’ expectations are exceeded.
- Teach Clinics and Lessons to Members and Guests.,
- Club Fitting Members and Guests.
- Play Golf with Members and Guests.
- Provide continuous improvement initiatives and training and coaching as needed to all support staff.
- Pursue continuing education opportunities to ensure professional growth.
- Perform additional duties as needed.
- Qualifications

- PGA of Canada member in good standing.
- Prior experience with Jonas Club Management will be considered an asset.
- Golf Genius experience will be considered an asset.
- Club Fitting and Club Repair Experience.
- Trackman Launch Monitor and Simulator Experience will be considered an asset.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.

- Compensation

- $20 - $25 per Hour based on experience + teaching revenues.
- Unlimited opportunity for individual and group lesson revenue with flexible schedules being coordinated to ensure a strong work/life balance.
- Term of Employment – Full Time Seasonal (March to October) with the opportunity for part time winter hours and off-season simulator teaching opportunities.
