The Falls Golf Club in Chilliwack is only 50 minutes from Downtown Vancouver. The Golf course was carved from the foothills of Mount Cheam, providing the course with a dramatic landscape that is ideal for a challenging round. The views from the golf course span across the scenic Fraser Valley. The challenge and scenery of the Falls has earned it a reputation amongst locals as one of BC’s best-kept secrets. The rolling terrain is accented with natural rock outcroppings and tall cedars, which both come into play throughout the golf course.

The changes in elevation total over 750 feet, ranging from subtle to dramatic. There are many formidable holes but they each have an average of five sets of tees so that players of all abilities can play to their skill level. The Falls Golf Club’s memorable fourth hole even has nine different tees as well as a 100-foot drop to the green.

Job Summary

The Falls Golf Club is seeking the services of an Assistant Golf Professional for the 2023 Golf Season.

As a leading member of the Golf Team; the Assistant Golf Professional assists the General Manager / Director of Golf in all aspects of the golf operation; tee times, course play, tournaments and outings, merchandising, training, etc. Able to provide highly efficient and superior customer service, maintain and provide daily records to assist with reports and supervising the Sales Associates and Outside Service Staff.

Responsibilities

Include but are not limited to:

  • Assists with hiring, training and supervising Sales Associate and Outside Service Staff.
  • Effectively manages numerous types of tournaments from start to finish, including participation in meetings – This includes, Corporate, Charity and Member Events.
  • Operates golf shop in absence of Sales Associate.
  • Manages the daily opening and closing of golf operations as needed.
  • Performs starter or marshal duties regularly.
  • Manages Golf Canada handicap system for customers.
  • Performs other appropriate tasks assigned by the General Manager / Director of Golf
Qualifications
  • PGA of Canada Apprentice or Assistant Professional
  • Actively pursue PGA of Canada membership (if a PGA Apprentice) in a timely manner through the PGA of Canada.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Fundamental knowledge of the game of golf, rules of golf, golf facility operations and tournament operations.
  • Fundamental supervisory practices and principles.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Ability to work weekends and holidays
  • Act as a role model for all employees by demonstrating the behaviour and work ethic expected of all employees.
  • Strong organizational, planning and prioritization skills.
  • Self-motivated with desire to promote and market.
  • Excellent service and customer focused attitude.
  • Experienced in written and oral business communications.
Compensation
  • $19 - $21 per hour + Retail and Tournament Bonuses (based on experience)
