Assistant Golf Professional: Lakewood Golf Resort

Established in 1967, Lakewood Golf Resort has undergone many facelifts over the years. Originally built by the landowner and local farmer, Lakewood began as a 9-hole, par 36 with sand greens. The golf course was purchased by the Carruthers family in 1982 which set the wheel in motion for change.

The first expansion was to eliminate the sand greens and build grass greens. In 2005/06, the golf course underwent a major expansion which saw the routing change to its current configuration, with holes lengthened and new greens built. This fresh design created excitement within the Central Alberta golfing community which helped us grow to become one of the busiest golf courses in the region.

The final phase of our expansion has just been completed, and we cannot be more excited about what the future holds. Starting in the spring of 2024, Lakewood Golf Resort will transition from a 9-hole, regulation-length golf course to a full length 18-hole course. The addition of the second 9-holes will bring the core golfer to Lakewood, ultimately increasing the business of our establishment.
