Apprentice / Assistant Professional: Niakwa Country Club: Winnipeg, MB

Niakwa Country Club is a private year-round golf club established in 1923 and designed by the famed Stanley Thompson. Niakwa is a year-round facility with a fully equipped Fitness Centre and an indoor golf studio that offers 3 Foresight hawk simulated golf bays, a state-of-the-art coaching bay equipped with a GC Quad, Swing Catalyst pressure plate and video software.

In 2023, Niakwa will celebrate it’s 100th anniversary and we look forward to an amazing season for the membership and staff. This is a very exciting time for our club and will be an excellent experience for the successful candidate.

Job Summary

The primary focus for this position is to provide amazing experiences in all areas of the golf operations. This will include participating in the merchandising, club fitting, instruction and tournament programs, as well as playing and socializing with the membership. We are looking for someone who has a deep passion for the game of golf and a desire to share that passion with our members. It is our belief that the role of our Golf Professional team is to lead the operation in a fun and professional manner for the enjoyment of the membership as well as the staff.

The successful candidate will be supported in their career development and encouraged to grow as a professional both on and off the golf course.


• Provide the highest level of customer service on an on-going basis in a professional and friendly manner

• Work effectively in a team structure in a high paced and dynamic work environment

• Lead by example and contribute positively to a team atmosphere

• Communicate effectively with colleagues, members and guests

• Gain a working knowledge of Jonas, Golf Genius & Foresight systems

• Assist in the coordination of all member and corporate events as well as weekly league play

• Participate in the merchandising of apparel, equipment, and related products.

• Perform club fittings as well as basic club repair.

• Conduct private lessons and assist with the Junior Program and Member clinics.

• Play regularly with members, practice and continue to develop your playing ability

• Assist in the day-to-day operation of the Pro Shop.

• Supervise and assist the outside service staff.

• Perform other duties as required.


• Member in good standing with the PGA of Canada or planning to join the association in 2023

• Post-secondary degree or working toward PGM college diploma is an asset

• Knowledge of Jonas POS, Golf Genius & Foresight is an asset

• Knowledge of club fitting, repair and equipment

• Merchandise and retail experience is an asset

• Experience coaching private and group instruction is an asset

• Exceptional playing ability is an asset


• Annual salary of $40,000

• Year-Round Employment

 March 1 to October 31 – 32 to 40 hours per week

 November 1 to February 28 – 24 hours per week
