Job Summary
As part of our golf team, the Apprentice Golf Professional plays a key role in making our Golf Shop a welcoming and enjoyable place for our members. Working alongside the Head Golf Professional, Merchandising Manager, and other golf staff, you’ll help ensure the day to day golf operation runs smoothly, and delivers top-notch service and memorable experiences to our members on every visit. This role is also hands-on with our members—you’ll assist with junior clinics, member events, leagues and offer some private instruction—helping our members of all ages enjoy their time on the course while sharpening their skills. Responsibilities
  • Support the Golf Shop by helping create an inviting and well-organized retail experience.
  • Attend weekly golf meetings to share updates and ideas for enhancing service and member experience.
  • Stay knowledgeable about all merchandise to provide helpful and friendly guidance to members and guests.
  • Work closely with the Head Golf Professional and Guest Services Team to exceed member expectations.
  • Assist with opening and closing the Golf Shop, ensuring it is tidy, welcoming, and well-maintained.
  • Foster strong communication with other departments, including starters, player assistants, grounds staff, and golf services, to ensure smooth operations.
  • Help members with tee time bookings, answer questions, and provide a warm and professional welcome in person or over the phone.
  • Keep the Pro Shop visually appealing and well-stocked, maintaining optimal inventory levels.
  • Handle member inquiries and concerns courteously, ensuring a positive resolution.
  • Restock merchandise and refresh displays to highlight products and maximize the retail experience.
  • Participate in coaching junior members during clinics and offer private instruction to support their growth in the game.
  • Perform any additional tasks as assigned by the Head Golf Professional to help the golf department run smoothly.
Qualifications
  • Post-Secondary education in a related field/ an accredited Golf Management Program is preferred.
  • Continued education through the Canadian PGA teaching and coaching certification programs.
  • Knowledge of the game of golf and the principles surrounding etiquette is required.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar work environment.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Good communication skills with a good working knowledge of written and spoken English.
  • Must be able to work under pressure while maintaining composure and performance standard during busy peak periods.
  • Must be able to perform lifting and mild strenuous activity.
  • Well groomed, mannerly, co-operative and outwardly friendly (team oriented).
  • Able to work shifts - days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Punctual and reliable.
  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs (Golf Bag).

$1000 - $1100 weekly salary
