Doug Wilson
About
A proud native of the 'The Home of Golf, Doug's family moved from Scotland to Paris, Ontario when he was an infant and was introduced to the game by his father Sandy at The Paris Golf Club. In his early teens the family moved back to Scotland where his passion for the game grew. He became the youngest golf professional in Scotland when at the age of twenty-one he was appointed Head Professional at the Douglas Park, a Private Club on the outskirts of Glasgow. At Douglas Park he developed a reputation as an excellent teacher and player of the game and was invited to the Middle East to be the Teaching Professional at The Awali Golf Club in Bahrain. After returning to Canada Doug has enjoyed time working in key roles at The Galt Country Club, Owen Sound Golf & Country Club, The Diamond 'in the Ruff' and Bigwin Island.
From his experience of competing in The Canadian Open, Doug learned that focusing solely on technique is not enough to succeed and as a result has dedicated himself to learning all aspects of the game in his quest to help others improve.
In addition to coaching golf, Doug was a Learning Facilitator/Educator in the Professional Golf Management Degree and Diploma Programs at Georgian College in Barrie for 25 years and a National Facilitator of the Teaching & Coaching Certification Program for the PGA of Canada for 10 years.
A father of four, Doug loves spending time with his partner Suzanne and his family which now includes 6 grandchildren and a great grand-daughter .
