Harmeet Kahlon is a Sherwood Park, Alberta–based golf professional and internationally respected leader with over 30 years of global experience and a distinguished legacy of excellence in the sport. An Asian Tour winner, accomplished administrator, and visionary golf developer, he has successfully translated elite championship success into exemplary results across leadership roles including Director of Golf, high-performance instructor, and golf infrastructure pioneer.
A natural and engaging communicator, Harmeet is widely recognized for delivering world-class golf services, producing measurable institutional results, and demonstrating a genuine passion for golf development and inclusion. His career is defined by a sincere commitment to enriching every organization and stakeholder he serves, while continuing to inspire, elevate, and transform lives through golf.
Harmeet Kahlon holds a unique place in Indian amateur golf history. He is the only Indian to have won the Nomura Cup Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship and the only Indian golfer to win the Singapore Amateur Championship, Pakistan Amateur Championship, All-India Amateur National Championship, and the SAARC Championship. He represented Asia in the inaugural Europe versus Asia-Pacific Team Championship and defeated the reigning European Champion in Australia in 1998. He also holds the record for being India’s number-one ranked amateur golfer for six consecutive years from 1993 to 1998.
Turning professional in 2002, Harmeet achieved immediate success by winning his first professional event, the Asian Tour Hero Honda Masters. He later added three more national professional tournament victories in India, reinforcing his reputation as one of the most accomplished golfers of his generation.
His achievements have been recognized with numerous national and international honours, including the Arjuna Award in 1997, the Government of India’s highest sporting distinction. He also received a Special Award from the Government of India for winning the Asia-Pacific Nomura Cup, the Punjab Government Roll of Honour for his gold medal performance at the National Championships in 1997, the Chandigarh Administration Award, the Chandigarh Golf Club Captain’s Day Most Distinguished Golfer Award, the All India Freelance Journalists Association Excellence in Public Service Award, and recognition as a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow.
With more than 35 years of practical and theoretical expertise, Harmeet possesses extensive knowledge of international golf infrastructure, including world-class golf academies, golf course design and maintenance, long-term golf programming, high-performance player development, and golf technology. One of his landmark contributions was leading the design, startup, and operation of the Mohali Golf Range Academy in India, one of the country’s largest standalone fully floodlit golf learning and practice facilities, built to international standards and nationally awarded for excellence by a state development authority.
Harmeet is particularly respected for his commitment to inclusive and grassroots golf development. He has conducted numerous free programs for special-needs children, senior citizens, women, beginners, junior and sub-junior golfers, and caddies. His initiatives have included golf-on-course experiences for children, senior citizen coaching programs open to non-members, junior tournaments, awards functions, and contributions to junior golf range design and development.
Through these efforts, Harmeet has directly enriched the lives of more than 2,000 individuals, making golf accessible, inclusive, and affordable for all sections of society, including children as young as three years old.
He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree and a Master’s degree in Public Administration, in which he secured first position at Punjab University’s Correspondence Department. His governance experience includes serving as a former member of the Board of Directors of the Professional Golf Tour of India and former Chairman of the Tour Policy Committee.
