Tahlon Sweenie
About
I am a proud member of the Métis Nation of Alberta. I began playing golf at the age of 11 at the Stony Plain Golf Course, where I was part of what was then considered the premier junior program in Alberta. At 17, I was awarded a sponsored membership at the Edmonton Petroleum Golf and Country Club, where I later worked as a member services employee for the following season. After enrolling in the Professional Golf Management program at Lethbridge College, I gained experience at several esteemed locations, including Devon Golf Club, Cougar Creek Golf Resort, Hope Island Golf Resort in Queensland, Australia, and Windermere Golf & Country Club.
In 2007, I achieved the status of CPGA Class A Professional and, at 22, I was appointed Head Golf Professional at the Edson Golf Club. My most recent role is Director of Golf Operations at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge Golf Resort, a position I have held for thirteen seasons—seven as the Head Golf Professional and six as the Director of Golf Operations. The resort has been recognized by ScoreGolf Magazine as Canada’s #1 Resort and the #4 Golf Course in the country.
Throughout my 25 years in the golf industry, I have developed extensive knowledge and experience across all golf operations. I hold both a Professional Golf Management Diploma and a Professional Golf Management Certificate of Achievement. From 2014 to 2022, I served on the PGA of Alberta Executive Board of Directors, co-chairing the Promotions and Communications Committees.
