About

Steve Deschênes: 49 year old Golf Professional
Bilingual French/English

I started in the business in 1993 as a course maintenance crew member followed by a diploma as a Golf Course Superintendant in 1998.

From 2000 to 2006 I was an assistant-professionals serving different golf clubs and their operations.

In 2005 I completed a diploma in Professional Golf Management from a college in Trois-Rivières, Quebec (Lafleche College). I then Also acquired my Class A status from the CPGA.

“When you start letting go the dream of being the next Tiger Woods and when you put as much effort studying than making birdies that’s when you start having the respect of good club manager and head professionals.”

For me this is when it all started…

that’s when I began to get very good jobs and finally was able to make a living as an Assistant Professional.

In 2006 I got a great position as an assistant in one of the premiere golf clubs in Quebec (Le Mirage). After working for this Club I earned the chance to step it up notch.

In 2007 I became the 1st Head Professional of the Memphremagog Golf Club.
I didn’t know what I was getting into. ??
Memphremagog Golf Club is one of these very few Clubs around the world that can challenge Golf best such as Augusta National and a few others...

I called it home from 2007-2014

After 7 very successful years opening and running the golf operations at The Memphremagog Golf Club I took what I had learned and worked as general manager. I quickly realize that I was and still am the best and happier at being a Golf Pro.

After relocating near Montreal, I spent 4years as the associate professional at Pinegrove Golf & CC. This step back not being the number one guy allowed me to wait for the right opportunity wich came in November 2020 when I got hired as Head Professional of the Summerlea Golf Club .
I am day after day trying to serve the members and guest to the best of my abilities and also always try to inject people I encounter with my passion for my sport and my industry.
