Why You Choose the PGA as a Career: I choose the PGA as a career because I have a passion for both the game of golf, people and business.

Greatest Career Influence: My father and every colleague I have worked with

PGA Canada Mentors: Doug Wood, Rod Cochrane Murray Blair
None PGA Mentors: Ian Shaw, President Southwood G&CC, Dave Hodgson Visage / Club Car and Bruce Bowzer, Presidend AMJ Campbell Lines.

Number of years playing golf: 35 years

Where / When you started Playing Golf: I started playing golf at the age of 15 at the Brooks Golf Club in Alberta.

Who influenced you to start playing Golf: My friends whom I watched The Masters with one day and they had all played. Prior to getting to playing, I began hitting balls into an open field at the farm with my grandfather. I broke a few windows hitting towards the house of which is where my “natural” hook developed to avoid the house. Then I played with my friends and was truly hooked on the game. Then the managers of the club were then the biggest influence rewarding the juniors frequently with tee time access with the best part being the free pop, cinnamon buns and popsicles if you logged practice hours. Exceptional people the Renn family were to us all.

Quote:
Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction, and skillful execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives.

Thoughts on the Importance of Continuing Education and Your PGA Designation: Working in the industry that is fast-changing and broadening in scope, I believe it is critical to have a focus on industry and non-industry based professional development and continued education. In addition to education, it’s imperative we learn to be astute and ahead of the change in our customers’ needs to ensure we remain progressive of these desires and interests. They as in the customer are the real educators…As to the PGA Canada designation; I hold this in very high regard. I am most thankful to my mentors and the opportunity to be part of some wonderful teams and exceptional facilities of which have all shaped a career I am most proud of. Representing the PGA of Canada and the people, we interact, and influence is an honor I deeply respect.
