PGA of Canada Statement on COVID-19

PGA of Canada Statement on COVID-19

Amid the growing concern and progression of COVID-19, the PGA of Canada is closely following recommendations from the Government of Canada and World Health Organization, as well as working alongside Zone offices and fellow sports organizations to develop a proactive plan to ensure the safety of all.

The well-being of our membership and staff are of paramount importance and take on even greater significance during this unprecedented time.

As such, we want to provide you with the following updates.

National Office Update

Effective immediately, national staff will work remotely until Monday, March 30. During this time, staff will remain reachable by email and phone during regular business hours (8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday) to ensure business continuity for our members and partners.

Contact information for national staff is available here

Postponement or Cancellation of Events

We are actively reviewing our national education and tournament schedule and will provide updates on any postponements or cancellations as soon as more information becomes available.

As the first national championship isn’t slated until early June, we expect tournament season to proceed as normal for the time being. We will continue to monitor COVID-19 developments and adjust accordingly. Please check your email regularly for updates.

For Zone-related events, please contact your respective Zone office directly.

Member Assistance Program

Members have access to free, professional and confidential counselling, coaching and consulting services through the PGA of Canada Member Assistance Program provided by FSEAP. These services can help you manage personal, family, and/or work-related concerns.

FSEAP has informed us that they are working diligently to ensure strong business continuity through these turbulent times. Their services are expected to remain seamless but may be delivered through telephone or video rather than in person given the nature of current events.

English and French services can be accessed 24/7 online or toll-free by calling 1.844.720.1212.

Clinics and Camps

We strongly encourage members to follow the guidelines outlined by their provincial health authorities with respect to group activities, interactions and social distancing.

As you are well aware, things are changing rapidly with respect to COVID-19. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate this challenge together.

We want to ensure you that the PGA of Canada is taking all necessary precautions to ensure the health, safety and well-being of our members, staff and public.

We are more than an association. We are family. Take care of one another, and please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Mark Patterson
