Warren Crosbie Community Leader of the Year
Jeff Palmer, General Manager at Highland Pacific Golf in Victoria, B.C., has been named the 2025 PGA of Canada Warren Crosbie Community Leader of the Year for his transformational commitment to community engagement, mental health advocacy, and inclusive leadership through the game of golf.
Palmer has redefined what community leadership looks like in the golf industry through his signature initiative, the annual Moodswing Golf for Mental Health tournament. More than a fundraising event, Moodswing has become a platform for open dialogue and stigma reduction, creating safe spaces where professional golfers share their mental health journeys alongside their competitive achievements. This courageous approach has helped normalize mental health conversations in sport and provided powerful role models for young people navigating similar challenges.
Beyond a single event, Palmer demonstrated extraordinary vision in 2024 by launching a year-round “Calendar of Caring” at Highland Pacific Golf. By pairing monthly men’s and women’s night events with charitable partners, he built sustained relationships with organizations supporting youth mental health, cancer research, rare diseases, children’s health, men’s health, and international education initiatives. This strategic, consistent approach showed how golf facilities can serve as year-round convenors for social good rather than relying on isolated charity events.
Palmer’s initiatives have had tangible impact, particularly for youth living with mental illness in Greater Victoria. Funds raised enabled students to participate in mental health summits, develop peer-support skills, and return to their schools as mental wellness ambassadors—creating ripple effects that extend far beyond the golf course.
Through innovation, authenticity, and unwavering dedication, Jeff Palmer has created cultural change, strengthened communities, and demonstrated the powerful role golf can play in building a more inclusive and compassionate society.
