Danny King will sleep on a two-point lead heading into tomorrow’s final round of the PGA Seniors’ Championship of Canada presented by GOLFTEC at Manitou Ridge Golf Club.

The veteran PGA of Canada professional carded another strong round Tuesday, shooting 67 to earn 41 Stableford points to reach the top of the leaderboard.

“I’m just managing expectations,” said King. “I haven’t played a lot of tournaments and I’ve been working a lot this Spring, so I’m just playing with acceptance out there — whatever happens, happens — and just thinking about putting a good swing on every shot.”

A talented group of Ontario players are in the hunt behind King, defending champion Alan McLean and Gord Burns, both two-points back.

“Ontario has some of the best players that are pursuing their dreams of playing at a high level — they keep the game sharp,” King said. “Alan and Gord and Dennis (Hendershott), and all the other Ontario guys are excellent players. It is great to play with these guys.”

McLean fired the round of the week Tuesday, making five birdies in a row starting on the second hole and adding an eagle on the back to fire a 63 for 45 Stableford points.

“In that little stretch I hit it within 5 feet every single time – when you get on a run like that it is easy to just trust your swing,” said McLean, looking to win the event for the third-straight year.

The Super Senior division wrapped up on Tuesday with Marc Hurtubise winning the 36-hole event by 3-points over Michael Dagenais. Hurtubise is currently in sixth-place in the main event, six-points back of the lead.

Final round action at Manitou Ridge Golf Club gets underway Wednesday at 7 AM.
