Stacked Field to Compete at the 2008 Titleist & FootJoy Canadian PGA Assistants' Championship presented by Simmlands Insurance 
ACTON, ON (September 17, 2008) – More than 130 of the country’s leading Assistant golf Professionals will convene Tuesday, September 23rd at the prestigious Club de Golf Beloeil in Beloeil, Quebec to participate in the 2008 Titleist & FootJoy Canadian PGA Assistants’ Championship presented by Simmlands Insurance. 
One of the strongest fields in recent history is set to compete for the National title next week September 23rd-September 25th, 2008 in Beloeil, Quebec, approximately 15 minutes east of Montreal. 
This year is guaranteed to be one of the best showcases of talent when past champions Phil Jonas of BC (2006, 2004) and Bryn Parry of BC (2005, 1999) battle once again for this prestigious National championship against some of the top Assistant Professionals in the country. 
Players to Watch this year: 
Scott Bogle, ON: Winner of four Ontario events this year and currently competing at Canadian Tour qualifying school 
Kevin Dugas, NS: Leads Order of Merit in the Atlantic, has won the Canadian PGA Atlantic Zone Championship 14 times and Past Champion of Canadian PGA Assistants’ Championship (1992, 1987) 
Bryn Parry, BC: Winner of eight B.C. events this year and leads the Club Car PGA of BC Order of Merit and Past Champion of Canadian PGA Assistants’ Championship (2005, 1999) 
Mike Belbin, AB: Winner of two Alberta events this year 
Remi Bouchard, QC: Leads the 2008 Order of Merit on Bud Light Tour in Quebec and Past Champion of Canadian PGA Assistants’ Championship (1988) 
Lynden D’Alosio, ON: Winner of 2008 Ontario PGA Match Play Championship 
Jeffrey Gunn, QC: Leads Order of Merit on Callaway Tour in Quebec 
Phillip Jonas, BC: Winner of two BC events this year and Past Champion of Canadian PGA Assistants’ Championship (2006, 2004) 
Daryl James, AB: Winner of four Alberta events this year 
Dan Swanson, BC: Winner of seven BC events this year

Club de Golf Beloeil has held many prestigious championships over the years, such as the 1989 and 2005 Canadian Senior Amateur, the 1995 Canadian Lady Amateur and the 1998 Québec Amateur. Beloeil’s course record was set by Olivier Edmond of Quebec when he shot an outrageous 26 on the back nine, holing out twice totaling a record 61 for his round. 
Activities will begin Monday, September 22nd with registration and practice rounds. On Tuesday, September 23rd the three day 54-hole stroke play championship will begin with the field cut to 60 plus ties after the first 36 holes. 
There will be 36-hole InterZone competition compiled of four players on each team representing the nine Canadian PGA zones. The team score is calculated from the best three out of four scores accumulated over the first two rounds. The purse for the InterZone competition is $5000. 
The total purse for the championship is $60,000 with the champion receiving a $9,000 first place cheque.
