Sports Broadcaster Brian Williams to be Master of Ceremonies at Canadian PGA Centennial Celebration

SPORTS BROADCASTER BRIAN WILLIAMS TO BE MASTER OF CEREMONIES AT CANADIAN PGA CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION

(ACTON, ON) March 17, 2011 – The Canadian PGA announced today that Brian Williams, the highly decorated sports broadcaster for more than 30 years and host of CTV’s Olympic Prime Time coverage at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games, will be the Master of Ceremonies for the Canadian PGA Centennial Gala Dinner on Monday, July 11th at the Hilton Lac-Leamy Hotel in Gatineau, Quebec.

“We are thrilled to have Mr. Williams emcee and celebrate our 100th anniversary”, said Canadian PGA Executive Director, Gary Bernard. “Mr. Williams respected broadcast style has endeared him to millions of Canadians and he has a long rich history of sports experience similar to that of the Canadian PGA.”

Williams was recognized for his exceptional efforts at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games with a Gemini Award as Best Host or Interviewer in a Sports Program and was named Outstanding Broadcaster by Sports Media Canada.

Born in Winnipeg, Williams reported on his first Olympic Games at the 1976 Summer Games from Montreal. He has covered every high-profile sporting event around the globe, including the NHL, Major League Baseball, PGA TOUR, Canadian and World Figure Skating Championships, World Cup Skiing, Pan Am Games and Commonwealth Games.

I am proud to help the Canadian PGA ~ a valued and respected national institution celebrate 100 great years”, said Brian Williams,CTV-TSN Olympic Anchor, and Honorary Director of the Canadian PGA.

The Canadian PGA will celebrate its 100th anniversary during a two-day event that will include golf on July 10 and 11 at the Royal Ottawa Golf Club and Rivermead Golf Club followed by a gala dinner on Monday, July 11 at the beautiful Hilton Lac-Leamy Hotel in Gatineau, Quebec.
