PGA of Canada Announces Chris Fry as Communications & Social Media Specialist

Begins his new role at the PGA’s National Headquarters on November 1st

(ACTON, ON) October 25, 2011 – The PGA of Canada is pleased to announce Chris Fry has been named the new Communications & Social Media Specialist for the National Association.

Starting November 1, 2011, Fry begins his new role at the PGA’s National Headquarters in Acton, Ont.

“We are thrilled that Chris Fry will be joining the team here at that National Office,” says Gary Bernard, CEO of the PGA of Canada. “His background in this space and his in-depth knowledge with the game of golf makes him a fantastic fit and we believe his impact will be immediate.”

With an extensive background in both golf and communications, Fry most recently held the position of Coordinator, Communications in Sport Development with Golf Canada.

During his time at National Sports Organization for Golf in Canada, Fry was instrumental in building and executing communication strategies that enhanced and raised the profile of Sport Development initiatives such as National Golf in Schools, CN Future Links, Golf Fore the Cure and High Performance programs.

In addition, many of Fry’s in-depth written stories for GolfCanada.ca and Golf Canada magazine garnered much attention and acclaim, as did many of his online video features.

Prior to joining Golf Canada, the graduate of Humber College’s Journalism Program played a key role at ScoreGolf as a Writer, Editor & Content Producer. His work could be found across all the SCOREGolf media platforms including the magazine, website and social media portals.

“I feel very fortunate and honoured to have the opportunity to be a part of such a wonderfully historic association like the PGA of Canada,” Fry says. “The PGA of Canada and its 3,700 members are doing exceptional things for the game of golf in this country and I cannot wait to tell those stories.”

One of Fry’s first duties will be to attend the Titleist & FootJoy PGA Club Professional Championship at PGA Village in Port St. Lucie, Fla., November 20-23.
