Credit Valley Golf and Country Club Prepares to Host the Canadian PGA Women’s Championship presented by NIKE Golf

ACTON, ON (July 28, 2008) – Credit Valley Golf and Country Club is preparing to showcase their facility and the best female golfers in the world as they gear up to host the Canadian PGA Women’s Championship presented by NIKE Golf August 6th to 8th, 2008.

“We are excited to host yet another Canadian PGA National Championship,” stated Ian Webb, General Manager of Credit Valley Golf and Country Club, host site of the 1993 Canadian PGA Championship, won by Steve Stricker. “Having a Canadian PGA National Championship at your course is always a gratifying experience for a golf facility, the course is in great shape and our members are lining up to volunteer at this event, it should be a great tournament for both our club and the public, especially with the athletes that are signing up to play.”

Already committed to playing are defending champion Salimah Mussani, LPGA Tour players Nancy Harvey (past champion ’94,’95 & ’00), Cindy Pasechnik, Taylor Leon, Audra Burks, Hannah Jun and Lisa Strom. Also debuting in the event are Canadian PGA Members and Credit Valley Golf and Country Club host Associate and Apprentice professionals, Sarah Boyce and Courtney Lawson.

Designed by Robbie Robinson, Credit Valley retains many of the hallmarks of his design. The well bunkered course features narrow tree lined fairways and large fast undulating greens which puts a premium on length and accuracy. The setting is serene as the majority of the course meanders in the valley lands of the Credit River just upstream from the north shore of Lake Ontario.

The two day 36-hole stroke play championship will be contested on August 6th to 8th, 2008 at Credit Valley G&CC in Mississauga, Ontario. The 21st edition of the event, which will also be open to foreign players for the first time, offers a purse of $70,000.

Along with opening the field to foreign players, the event is receiving a makeover of sorts as amateurs and professionals can be fitted and demo NIKE Golf’s innovative products before the Simmlands Insurance Pro-Am on August 6th, which will be followed by a NIKE Golf fashion show. Pro-am participants will also be eligible to win a NIKE Golf makeover.

Past champions include Lori Kane (’96,’97,’98,’99 & ’01), Nancy Harvey (’94,’95 & ’00) and Alena Sharp (’04).

The deadline for players to confirm their intention to compete at the 2008 Canadian PGA Women’s Championship presented by NIKE Golf is Thursday, July 31st, 2008.

Player confirmations and announcements will continue in the weeks leading up to the event.

The event is free for spectators to attend.
