Canadian PGA’S Top Ten Players Amongst Early Commitments to the PGA Championship of Canada
(Acton, ON) May 17, 2011: The Canadian PGA announced today that the top ten players off the Canadian PGA Player Rankings have confirmed their entries into the PGA Championship of Canada sponsored by Mr. Lube and presented byTaylorMade.
Leading the way is Bryn Parry of North Vancouver, BC and the number one ranked player in the Association. Parry is already in fine form having racked up early victories on the 2011 Vancouver Golf Tour (VGT) and the Srixon Tour and is leading the VGT Order of Merit by over to 2,000 points through just six events.
“I can’t wait until the PGA Championship of Canada starts next month,” said Parry, a two-time champion of the Canadian PGA Assistant’s Championship. “As a Canadian PGA Member this is the most historical trophy we have and I want to get my name engraved on it.”
Number two ranked player Dave Levesque of Candiac, QC hopes to keep the momentum rolling from last year right into 2011. Levesque, who now works out of the Summerlea Club, went on a tear last year winning the inaugural Canada Cup, the Ontario PGA Assistant’s Championship and finished 3rd at the Canadian PGA Assistant’s Championship.
Danny King of Milton, ON has been a perennial favourite in nearly every Canadian PGA National and Zone event that he has teed it up in over the last ten years. The two-time Canadian PGA Club Professional Champion is currently ranked third in the Association despite only counting five events where he finished no worse than 5th. King is also the all-time leading money winner in the Ontario PGA Zone.
Ken Tarling, the number four ranked player in the Association, just returned from an incredible winter on the Australian PGA Seniors’ Tour where he racked up five victories and cruised to the top of their Order of Merit.
Rounding out the top five is Dean North of Carman Golf Club in Manitoba. North, a former Canadian Tour player, racked up back to back victories at the Manitoba PGA Championship in 2008 & 2009 to go along with top 10 finishes in the last three Canadian PGA Club Professional Championships down at PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, FL.

The players listed above have accumulated eight Canadian PGA National Championships and over 50 Canadian PGA Zone titles in the last decade.
The PGA Championship of Canada will be contested June 14-18 at Cottonwood Golf & Country Club in Calgary, Alberta with a total purse of $100,000. Conducted as a match play championship, the PGA Championship of Canada will take the Association’s 64 highest ranked players directly off the Canadian PGA Player Rankings to create what will be the greatest showcase of Canadian PGA talent each and every year.
