Canadian PGA Launches Twitter for PGA Championship

ACTON, ON: The Canadian PGA announced today that they will launch a Twitter campaign for the PGA Championship of Canada sponsored by Mr. Lube and presented by TaylorMade-adidas Golf Canada.
Canadian PGA staff will post live play-by-play tweets during the Championship June 15-18 at Cottonwood Golf & Country Club in Calgary, Alberta. Live scoring, video and updates can also be found at www.cpga.com .

“We are excited to be launching Twitter at the Championship”, noted Canadian PGA President Glenn Cundari. “We thought this would be the perfect opportunity to get fans involved in the event and follow their favourite players. “

The PGA Championship of Canada was first played in 1912, making it one of the oldest professional golf championships in the world. A storied list of past champions included: Moe Norman, Al Balding, George Knudson, Dan Halldorson, Dave Barr, Bob Panasik., Stan Leonard, Arnold Palmer, Lee Trevino, Lanny Wadkins, Ray Floyd and Steve Stricker.

This year’s event will be played as a match play championship, taking the Association’s 64 highest ranked players directly off the Canadian PGA Player Rankings to create what will be the greatest showcase of Canadian PGA talent each and every year.

Canadian PGA members and fans are invited to check out the action and follow the tournament at www.cpga.com and on Twitter@canadianpga.
