This is massive not only for the Canadian PGA and its 3,700 Members but for the entire Canadian golf industry as a whole,” said Glenn Cundari, President of the Canadian PGA. “This will create an on-going story for our Members, our partners and the Canadian golf media and we are excited to watch it all unfold.”

This is already getting rave reviews from our National Board of Directors and we expect the excitement to just keep getting bigger as the golf season gets underway,” said Gary Bernard, Executive Director of the Canadian PGA.

Based on a hybrid of the World Golf Rankings and other national rankings, the Canadian PGA Player Rankings will calculate results on a three-year cycle for all Canadian PGA National Championships and the Zone Championship from all nine Canadian PGA Zones. Points are awarded on a sliding scale based on each National Championship and on the field size of each Zone Championship.

“We’ve been working on this for months now and we believe this will become one of the greatest promotional tools for our Members in the history of the Association,” stated Jeff Dykeman, Director of Business Development & Brand. “From the early conversations we’ve had we know that our partners want to get involved and we expect to see our Members utilizing it to help promote themselves to their clients, customers and employers starting tomorrow.”

Bryn Parry of North Vancouver, BC has been considered one of the best Canadian PGA playing professionals in the country for nearly a decade but as of today there is no disputing it. Parry has the distinct honour of being #1 in the Canadian PGA Player Rankings heading into the 2011 season. A two-time National Assistant’s Champion, Parry’s point accumulation since 2008 includes two runner-up finishes in the Canadian PGA Assistant’s Championship and 1st, 2nd & 4th place finishes in the BC Zone Championship. In 2007, Parry parlayed his incredible run in his home province all the way to PGA Tour Qualifying School that resulted in full status on the Nationwide Tour after missing his PGA Tour card by a single shot.

“I’m absolutely pumped to be recognized as the number one ranked player in the entire Canadian PGA,” said an elated Parry, Teaching Professional at the Seymour Creek Golf Centre. “I want to thank the Canadian PGA for creating something that we can all strive for and I’ll do my best to remain at the top of this list for as long as I can.”

Dave Levesque of Candiac, QC sits in the second spot on the Canadian PGA Player Rankings after a fantastic run in the Ontario Zone and three consecutive strong finishes in the Canadian PGA Assistant’s Championship. In addition, Levesque racked up three finishes in the top 15 at the Ontario PGA Championship including a runner-up finish in 2008. After taking home the Player of the Year Award in the Ontario Zone in 2010, Levesque makes a move back to his home province of Quebec and will be a force to be reckoned with in that Zone.

Danny King - Head Teaching Professional at Magna in Aurora, ON holds down the third spot in the Canadian PGA Player Rankings. King secured his position after numerous strong showings in the country’s biggest events over the last three years. The two-time Canadian PGA Club Professional Champion has tried hard for the hat trick but had to settle for 3rd, 4th and 5th place finishes in the event over the last three years. King’s vault into the coveted top three was solidified by his victory in the 2008 Ontario Zone Championship and a 5th place finish in the same event in 2010. King also represented the Canadian PGA in the RBC Canadian Open in both 2006 & 2007.
