Applied Coaching for Special Olympics Golf Training, is an in-person course designed to provide coaches with practical, on-course experience. The course is designed to create a structured pathway for Special Olympics golf coaches, ensuring they have the tools to deliver safe, inclusive, and high-quality programs for athletes across Canada.
The workshop will begin with the first two hours indoors, followed by the majority of the day spent outside. Educational materials will be provided upon arrival. We will wrap up the last hour of the workshop indoors.
Coaches are asked to please bring your golf gear, as you will be modelling technique throughout the session. Please note, the focus of the workshop is on technical content and practical on-course coaching, rather than on athlete performance. Please dress in golf attire that is appropriate for the cooler fall weather, as much of the workshop will take place outdoors.
There will be plenty of opportunities to share your thoughts, opinions and laughter with other Special Olympics Coaches during the training. Not only will we have interactive classroom discussions, but we will also put that theory into action by getting hands-on coaching practice with athletes during outdoor components.
