Men < 49 years old – course rating plus 9
Men > 50 years old – course rating plus 11

Men <49 – Rating 70.3 6373 Yards - Target Score = 79
Men >50 – Rating 70.3, 6373 Yards - Target Score = 81

Woman < 49 years old – course rating plus 13

Successful applicants will be sent by email the Apprentice Professional application package. Completed packages must be submitted no later than 30 days after completing the PAT.

The PGA of Ontario reserves the right without notice to change/adjust the number of spots available based on time of year, weather, interest, and government health/club guidelines.

This is an 18-hole stroke play Playing Ability Test

FIELD
A maximum of forty-eight (48) available spots on a first come first served basis.

SPECTATORS

  • Spectators are permitted and must walk.

CHECK-IN WITH TOURNAMENT CONVENOR
Players are asked to check in at the 1st tee no less than 5 minutes before their tee time.

DRIVING RANGE
Range balls will be complimentary.

PRACTICE ROUNDS
Practice rounds will be available at $55 plus HST (Walking), and a 9-hole cart rate which is $18 plus HST. Please contact the pro shop at 905-888-1219

CARTS AND ON-COURSE EQUIPMENT

  • Carts are not included. Players must adhere to the host facility cart rules.
  • The cost is $18 plus tax (twilight rate)
  • A two-cart per-group rule is in effect.

SPECIFICATIONS OF CLUBS AND THE BALL

  1. List of Conforming Driver Heads: Model Local Rule G-1 is in effect.
    Penalty for making a stroke with a club in breach of this Local Rule: Disqualification.
     
  2. Groove and Punch Mark Specifications: Model Local Rule G-2 is in effect.
    Penalty for making a stroke with a club in breach of this Local Rule: Disqualification.
     
  3. List of Conforming Golf Balls: Model Local Rule G-3 is in effect.
    Penalty for making a stroke with a ball in breach of this Local Rule: Disqualification.
     
  4. Replacing Club that is Broken or Significantly Damaged – Model Local Rule G-9 is in effect.

MEASURING DEVICES
A player may obtain distance information by using a device that: MEASURES DISTANCE ONLY
However, if a distance measuring device has additional functionality that can gauge or measure other conditions that might affect a player’s play (e.g. elevation change, wind speed, etc.), the use of any such additional function would be a breach of Rule 4.3a.

ELECTRONIC AUDIO OR VIDEO DEVICES
During a round, a player must not listen to or watch content of any nature on a personal audio or video device. Rule 4.3
Penalty for Breach of Rule 4.3

  1.     Penalty for first breach from single act or related acts: Two Strokes
  2.     Penalty for second breach unrelated to first breach: Disqualification

TRANSPORTATION
Competitors may walk or make arrangements with the host club for the use of a motorized golf cart. Players must adhere to the host facility cart rules.

TRAVEL
The PGA of Ontario assumes no responsibility for entrants' travel arrangements. The PGA of Ontario advises entrants not to book travel or room arrangements before confirmation of tournament acceptance unless those arrangements can be cancelled without penalty.

DRESS CODE
Competitors must adhere to the PGA of Ontario Dress Code which is also available in the competitor registration package. In addition, all golf shirts must be tucked in and hats pointed forward.

TIME OF STARTING
All players in a group must be present and READY TO PLAY at the time laid down by the Committee. The order of play is not relevant. READY TO PLAY is defined as being on or near the player's first tee accompanied with the necessary equipment needed to put a ball in play. Notification by a PGA of Ontario Rules Official will be given to late starters on the first tee or as soon as practicable.

ALCOHOL AND DRUG POLICY

Stroke Play Event Alcohol Policy

  • The consumption of alcohol before or during any PGA of Ontario stroke play event or Playing Ability Test is strictly prohibited. Violation of this policy is considered conduct unbecoming of a Member of the PGA of Ontario, and swift penalty will be issued by the Tournament Captain and PGA of Ontario office.

Team Event Alcohol Policy

  • The PGA of Ontario is launching a pilot project regarding team events which will allow the purchase of alcohol from the host facility during team events only. This policy will be reviewed following each event and if any issues arise (including, but not limited to, professional conduct, alcohol abuse, or liability), this policy will be revoked immediately. Penalties will be issued based on any Professional violating Liquor Laws and/or our professional code of conduct.

Drug Policy

  • The PGA of Ontario will abide by each facility's drug policy.

ANTI-DOPING POLICY
