Please note: In order to be eligible to register for a Playing Ability Test you must be a “Verified” Applicant.

In order to be “Verified” you must have submitted the following items:

  • 2021 PGA of Canada Terms of Agreement
  • Proof of Age
  • Proof of Employment
  • Reference Letter(s)  
    • To provide a reference letter from your employer/direct report
    • To provide a reference letter from a Class “A” Member

This PGA of Ontario Playing Ability Test has a maximum of thirty (30) available spots and will be taken on a first come first served basis.

Register and Pay $150.00 plus HST by June 6th, 2021

Male Applicants – Blue Tees

Male < 49 years old – course rating plus     9    
Male > 50 years old – course rating plus    11

Male <49 – Rating 70.6, 6423 Yards - Target Score = 80
Male >50 – Rating 70.6, 6423 Yards - Target Score = 82

Female Applicants – Red Tees

Female < 49 years old – course rating plus 13
Female > 50 years old – course rating plus 15

Female <49 – Rating 70.3, 5248 Yards - Target Score = 83
Female >50 – Rating 70.3, 5248 Yards - Target Score = 85

9:06 a.m. tee times in 12 minute intervals, we will be playing the Heathlands Course.

Applicants who are successful will be sent by email the Apprentice Professional application package.  Completed packages must be submitted no later than 30 days after completing the PAT.

The PGA of Ontario reserves the right without notice to change/adjust the number of spots available based on time of year, weather, interest, and government health/club guidelines.

RULES OF GOLF; CLOSE OF COMPETITION; CONFORMING GOLF BALLS; CONFORMING DRIVERS

  1. Golf Canada's Rules of Golf will govern all play. The PGA of Ontario Tournament Rules Committee shall have the final decision on all claims and disputes.  The competition is deemed to have closed when the trophy has been presented to the winner or, in the absence of a prize ceremony, when all scores have been approved by the Committee.  
  2. Only brands of golf balls on the most current List of Conforming Golf Balls may be used.
  3. Any driver selected for play must have a clubhead that is listed on the most current List of Conforming Driver Heads.

TRANSPORTATION
Competitors may walk or make arrangements with the host club for use of a motorize golf cart.  Players must adhere to the host facility cart rules.  

TRAVEL
The PGA of Ontario assumes no responsibility for entrants' travel arrangements. The PGA of Ontario advises entrants not to book travel or room arrangements prior to confirmation of tournament acceptance unless those arrangements can be cancelled without penalty.

GROOVE SPECIFICATIONS
The Local Rule for groove and punch mark specifications, effective January 1, 2010, has been adopted as a condition of competition for all PGA of Ontario events. DRESS CODE
 Competitors must adhere to the PGA of Ontario Dress Code which is also available in the competitor registration package.

TIME OF STARTING   
All players in a group must be present and READY TO PLAY at the time laid down by the Committee.  The order of play is not relevant.  READY TO PLAY is defined as being on or near the player's first tee accompanied with the necessary equipment needed to put a ball in play.  Notification by a PGA of Ontario Rules Official will be given to late starters on the first tee or as soon as practicable.

ANTI-DOPING POLICY
The PGA of Ontario has adopted the Canadian Anti-Doping Program set by the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport.  For further information please visit www.cces.ca.

REMINDER

PROTECTING YOURSELF AND OTHERS

  • Stay home if:
    • You are feeling unwell,
    • You have traveled outside Canada within the past 14 days,
    • You have a new or worsening cough or fever,
    • You have been advised by a medical professional to self-isolate.
  • Avoid contact with people who are sick.
  • Practice respiratory etiquette, including coughing and sneezing into your arm. Dispose of tissues immediately into trash receptacles.

BUNKERS

  • Bunker rakes, benches and ball washers have been removed from the course.
  • No rakes are in the bunkers so please repair your footprints by using your feet.  If a player’s ball ends up in a footprint or unmaintained area of the bunker, they are entitled to mark, lift and place within 6″ no closer to the hole.  If a player’s ball is originally plugged in an unmaintained area of the bunker, they must re-plug the ball within 6″ no closer to the hole.

FLAGSTICKS

  • The flag will remain in at all times – DO NOT REMOVE THE FLAG!
  • A mechanism to safely retrieve golf balls from holes without touching flagsticks has been installed. All golfers are asked to refrain from touching the flagsticks.

CADDIES

  • Caddies are not permitted at this time.

SPECTATORS

  • Spectators are not permitted at this time.

CHECK-IN WITH TOURNAMENT CONVENOR
Players are asked to check-in at the 1st tee no less than 5 minutes prior to their tee time, while maintaining physical distance.  

SCORING

  • No exchange of scorecards between players before or after their round; final score verification will take place verbally
  • A final scoring area will be established using social distancing measures whereby you can check your scores and your playing partner can attest to them.
  • You will be asked to re-read your scores to your playing partners and to our team for verification.
  • Please sign your own scorecard on the LEFT SIDE to attest for your playing partner’s score
  • Please sign your own scorecard on the RIGHT SIDE to verify your own score that has been read by your scorer.  
  • Drop your scorecard into the box provided when all scores are verified.  
  • Scoring will be final once you have submitted your scorecard.
  • Final results will be available online

CARTS AND ON-COURSE EQUIPMENT

  • Carts are not included.  Players must adhere to the host facility cart rules.
  • Cost is per seat and is $18 + tax per seat.  No more than 2 carts permitted per tee time.

EVACUATION PLAN

  • Should a weather event take place that requires golfers to evacuate the golf course, please return to your personal vehicles immediately following a suspension of play in an effort to prohibit large gatherings.

HOST CLUB COVID-19 PROTOCOLS

TPC Toronto Arrival Instructions

  • Players must not arrive at the golf course more than 1 hour before your scheduled starting time.
  • There are a limited number of stalls set up on the driving range.  The cooperation and respect of all players in following this guideline will help to accommodate social distancing guidelines. There will be no access to practice facilities after the round.
  • Players should check in with the Ontario PGA staff upon arrival before using the practice facilities.

Golf Cart Information

  • TPC Toronto has installed plexiglass dividers in all golf carts to accommodate shared riding.  All golf carts will be ready for those players wishing to rent a cart based on TPC Toronto’s standard COVID-19 cleaning practices.
  • Golf carts are not permitted in the parking prior to one’s round.  All players need to bring their golf clubs and all accessories to the Cart Staging Area to load up their cart.  
  • Players are permitted to take their golf carts to the parking lot following their round to unload into their car.  Golf carts should be immediately returned to the Cart Return Area from parking lot where TPC Toronto staff will manage the cart return process.
  • TPC Toronto has installed plexiglass dividers to allow for shared cart riding.

Clubhouse & Washroom Information

  • The Clubhouse is closed until further notice.  
  • There are no washrooms that are accessible inside.
  • All outdoor washrooms will be open and accessible including those on the golf course
  • Washroom locations are, a) outside main clubhouse b) hole #4 c) hole #8 d) hole #13 e) hole #17.
  • Face coverings / masks are mandatory at all times when inside the main clubhouse building.  Players can access the Pro Shop through the main door at the front of the building.
  • Hand sanitizer is available at the main door at the front of the building as well as in the Pro Shop.  It is strongly recommended that players bring their own hand sanitizer/wipes and masks as required by each individual.

Golf Shop Services/Purchases

  • Players can access the Pro Shop through the main front door.  
  • TPC Toronto staff will manage the number of people in the Pro Shop and directional visuals will assist players with the flow of traffic when inside
  • Debit or credit only.  NO CASH.

Food and Beverage Information

  • The Back Patio is open for food service.  Players can purchase from the Take-out Window or wait to be seated in the dining area.  Limited space is available in the dining area.
  • Players must wear masks on the patio until seated.
  • Players must re-mask when getting up from the table for any reason
  • Debit and credit only.  NO CASH.

COVID-19 Protocols are subject to change.  Players will be notified of any changes prior to the TPC Toronto Playing Ability Test.
