Course Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Identify the stages of event information gathering and develop a method of interaction with conveners to receive key information and event details
     
  • Understand the importance of staffing roles for events and develop a system to inform and educate staff on expectations

  • Develop the tools needed to understand your competitive environment, build a strategic plan, and market your event plan to help grow your event business

  • Understand the role of the food and beverage department as it relates to events, and develop a system of information sharing between departments

  • Develop a system of analysis to measure the success of events, and develop plans to improve upon weaknesses

  • Identify risk as it relates to event management for golf facilities and development plans for risk mitigation

  • This course will take you approximately 60 - 90 minutes to complete, with additional time required to complete the evaluation.

Evaluation Methods
This course was designed by Ashley Scrobe. With a background in education and over a decade of experience as an operations manager in the golf industry, Ashley brings a unique perspective to the role of industry Professionals at golf facilities. Born and raised in Saskatchewan, Ashley completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Saskatchewan before moving to Tokyo, Japan to work in education.  After 8 years, he returned to Canada and graduated from the Professional Golf Management program at Niagara College in southern Ontario. Ashley has worked as an operations manager at 9, 18, and 27 hole facilities, which cover public, tourist, and semi-private facilities. Ashley also has helped to grow the game by chairing the Golf Niagara Committee in conjunction with Golf Ontario and has spearheaded successful Kids Try Golf programs in the Niagara Region. 
Successful completion of this course for credits can be done by choosing one of two evaluation methods.

This course provides learners the opportunity to be evaluated in one of two ways:

1. Learners can complete the quiz after the course content is completed.

2. Learners have the option to present an idea to discuss with an evaluator on either a new concept or learning point from the course. This virtual meeting will be set-up using the virtual classroom tool within this course.

Course Policies

Quiz Reattempt Policy
Learners have a maximum of three attempts to successfully pass the course knowledge check.

If the course passing grade is not achieved after the 3rd attempt, the learner will receive a grade of "Not Yet" and not receive credit for this course.

"Not Yet" Policy

Any learner who does not meet the equivalent passing grade, does not meet the late policy, resubmission policy, missed time policy or contravene the Academy Integrity policy in a given course will receive no credit ("Not Yet") for that course.

Any learner that receives a "Not Yet" grade and is choosing/required to re-take the course will be able to do so at 50% cost of the course registration fee.

Refund Policy for Online Courses – Asynchronous:

Within 7 days of registration – full refund
Within 30 days of registration – half refund of the course
After 30 days of registration - $0 refund"

*any member who is 50% or more through a PGA Training Academy course will receive a $0 refund. 
*any failing grade for a course will receive a $0 refund.
