CHAMPIONSHIP FORMAT
This competition is a 54-hole individual stroke play tournament.
Head Teaching Professional Championship: This competition will run concurrently through the completion of 54 holes.
Inter-Zone Championship: This competition will run concurrently through the completion of the first 36 holes of both the Head Professional and Head Teaching Professional championships. Each day, the lowest three out of four individual 18-hole scores will count towards the team score.
The tournament will be played under the Golf Canada Rules of Golf (effective January 2023) and the 2025 PGA of Canada Local Rules & Terms of the Competition, subject to changes, additions or deletions, as described on the Notice to Players and Entry Form.
The PGA of Canada Tournament Rules Committee shall have the final decision on all claims and disputes.
ELIGIBILITY
1. This competition is open to players of any gender.
2. This competition is open to:
a) PGA of Canada Head Teaching Professionals, Directors of Instruction, and Head Golf Coaches who currently reside or work in Canada.
b) Eligible Members as defined in (a) above MUST NOT have played in more than two Canadian or foreign tour events in the period of 60 days prior to the start of the championship (October 8, 2025 to December 7, 2025). Tours under this clause include all tours used in the Official World Golf Rankings plus the Champions Tour, European Senior Tour and Epson Tour.
c) The RBC Canadian Open is not included in the restrictions stated in (b) above.
3. Retired members in good standing who retired as one of the listed categories of 1(a) above and are a past champion. Dependent on entries received, retired members who are not past champions may be eligible based on the priority list outlined below under ‘Championship Field’.
4. Any active PGA of Canada member in good standing that participates in the 2025 PGA Assistants’ Championship of Canada will be ineligible to participate in the 2025 PGA Head Teaching Professional Championship of Canada, regardless of a title change at their facility or another facility.
5. All applications are subject to approval or rejection by the PGA of Canada at any time before or after the start of play.
CHAMPIONSHIP FIELD
The championship field for 2025 will be comprised of 36 players. All entries will be placed in the following order of priority: a) Exemptions, b) all eligible active members by date of entry received, c) eligible retired past champions and d) eligible retired members.
*Inter-Zone Team Champion will be identified after 36 holes. There will be no cut during the championship.
INTER-ZONE TEAMS
NAMING INTER-ZONE TEAM – Team members' entries must be received prior to the entry closing. Zones must declare their four-player team by 4:00 p.m. (EDT) on November 22, 2025, only from professionals who have entered in either the Head Professional Championship presented by Callaway Golf, or the Head Teaching Professional Championship supported by UpSwing Golf prior to the entry deadline. A minimum of three (3) players is required to enter a team, and a maximum of two (2) players from each team can be participating in the Head Teaching Professional Championship supported by UpSwing Golf.
INTER-ZONE TEAM FORMAT - Each team's best three (3) 18-hole scores for each day of the 36-hole competition (the first two rounds of the Championship) shall count. In the event of a tie for first place, each team’s fourth-place 18-hole score for the final round of the Inter-zone team competition will be used to determine the champion. If still tied, each team involved in the tie will be asked to designate one team member to playoff during the final round of the Championship proper, with the lower or lowest 18-hole score determining the champion. Should this result in a tie, the teams tied will be deemed co-champions.
EXEMPTIONS
1. Past PGA of Canada Head Professional Champions (if eligible)
2. Top fifteen (15) and ties from 2024 PGA Head Professional Championship of Canada (if eligible)
3. 2024 PGA Zone Club Professional champions (part of Zone allotment)
4. Inter-Zone team members from each Zone (Team members’ entries must be received prior to entry closing)
5. Up to five (5) places for prominent professional golfers not otherwise exempt. These places to be granted at the sole discretion of the PGA of Canada.

*Subject to change based on final field size.
PRIZE MONEY - TIES
In the event of ties, prize money will be divided equally among those tied, except that if a competitor wins a playoff for the overall Championship, he or she will receive first-place prize money.
PLAYOFF
A tie for the overall Championship will be decided by a hole-by-hole playoff immediately following the conclusion of play. All other positions will remain tied.
APPLICATION FEE & PROCEDURE
1. All applications must be filed through your online member account through www.pgaofcanada.com.
2. The application fee of $575.00 (plus applicable taxes*) must accompany the application. *All entry fees are subject to HST, HST # R106865678.
3. All applications must be received by the PGA of Canada, 13450 Dublin Line, Acton, ON L7J 2W7 prior to Monday, September 1st, 2025, at 4:00 pm EDT (Eastern Daylight Time). Late, incomplete, or inaccurate applications will not be accepted, and are not the responsibility of the PGA of Canada.
4. Entries will not be accepted without full remittance of an entry fee.
5. Application fees will be refunded if the PGA of Canada is notified in writing of the player’s intention to withdraw prior to the application closing date. Application fees will not be refunded after the application deadline without a medical certificate. Refunds are subject to a $75 service charge.
CHAMPIONSHIP HOTEL
The 2025 PGA of Canada Head Teaching Professional Championship supported by UpSwing Golf will take place at an all-inclusive resort. Players may book their stay through Golf Away Tours. Please see more information below.

Playa Paraiso Golf Club is located at the resort and the group rate will cover all transportation to and from the airport, along with opening and closing receptions. Players that do not book through Golf Away Tours will be charged an additional fee for the player receptions and will be on their own to arrange airport transportation.

REGISTRATION AT IBEROSTAR PLAYA PARAISO GOLF CLUB
Players must register at the PGA of Canada Tournament Office at Iberostar Playa Paraiso Golf Club on Sunday, December 7th between 9:00 am – 2:00 pm. If you cannot register on Sunday, simply contact the PGA of Canada to confirm your attendance at the championship and arrangements will be made for you to register on Monday morning. CADDIES
1. The use of caddies is not compulsory and must be supplied by each player.
2. Pull carts, including those motorized, are permitted.
3. Caddies must adhere to the PGA of Canada Dress Code, a copy of which is available at www.pgaofcanada.com.
4. Caddies must wear flat-soled shoes. Violation of this condition may result in DISQUALIFICATION of the competitor.
CLOSE OF COMPETITION; CONFORMING GOLF BALLS; CONFORMING DRIVERS
1. The competition is final when the trophy has been presented to the winner, or in the absence of an awards ceremony, when all scores have been validated in the scoring system and approved by the Tournament Committee.
2. Only brands of golf balls on the most current List of Conforming Golf Balls may be used.
3. Any driver selected for play must have a clubhead that is listed on the most current List of Conforming Driver Heads.
TRANSPORTATION
Motorized transportation is permitted at any stage of the championship. There will be a maximum of two carts per group for players and caddies only. Caddies are not guaranteed transportation. Spectators, including spouses, are encouraged to attend the championship but are not permitted to use automotive transportation at any time. TRAVEL
The PGA of Canada assumes no responsibility for entrants' travel arrangements. Because the tournament may be oversubscribed, the PGA of Canada advises entrants not to book travel or room arrangements prior to confirmation of tournament acceptance unless those arrangements can be cancelled without penalty.
GROOVE SPECIFICATIONS
The Local Rule for groove and punch mark specifications, effective January 1, 2010, has been adopted as a condition of competition for all PGA of Canada championships. DRESS CODE AND FOOTWEAR
1. Players must adhere to the PGA of Canada Dress Code which is available at www.pgaofcanada.com.
2. It is a condition of PGA of Canada National Championships that shoes with metal or traditionally designed spikes (regardless of composition, i.e., ceramic, plastic, etc.) are prohibited. Penalty for breach of this condition is DISQUALIFICATION.
TIME OF STARTING
All players in a group must be present and READY TO PLAY at the time laid down by the Committee. The order of play is not relevant. READY TO PLAY is defined as being on or near the player's first tee accompanied with the necessary equipment needed to put a ball in play. Notification by a PGA of Canada Rules Official will be given to late starters on the first tee or as soon as practicable.
